Title: SS TON bat handles
Post by: mp07 on May 05, 2016, 03:50:12 PM
Hello guys,

Recently I bought 2 SS Ton bats (One for nets and one for the game), but both of them started developing minor cracks in the lower part of the handle.  So, I check with my teammate who owns SS Ton as well and he has exactly the same problem.
Any of you aware of this or encountered with SS bats recently?

Thanks!

This is one of them, I didn't take handle crack pictures yet but this one is completely cracked from the middle.  Less than 6 months old!

My SS vertu has tiny cracks on either side of the handle toward the bottom. Never buying SS again.

I wouldn't worry too much about the handle if it's in that state :-[

It's hard to remove all the sticker glue from SS bat.

Not sure how long you have had those but if they are new I would be harassing my retailer! Those bats our done for.

I had it for about 6 months, bought it from Online Stockist Cricket. Sent him all the pictures, which he passed it on to manufacture...now waiting for their reply.

So many issues popping up recently with bats from OLS. I was tempted to buy a SS bat from OLS but i will stay away now.

get them from a legit retailer...SS bats seems to be very inconsistent (at least the mid range ones).

Bat blade itself was really good while it lasted, I must say that.  I think this has to do more with how SS is manufacturing their handles, or maybe handles are too thin for the blade weight in order to keep the bat in lower weight mark.

Or OLS bats are variable in provenance and quality?

Just exactly reason why(thin handles), I am skeptical buying Asian bats, Even my favorite BAS bats too.

It's hard to remove all the sticker glue from SS bat.

I did a rookie mistake three years ago, removed SS stickers from the bat perfectly using hair dryer and placed the bat in the bat cover without sanding the glue. Eventually Bat cover needed to be torn to remove the bat from it. :D

My feelings are that the chances of getting a poorly fitted handle are greater if you buy from Asia, whether that is down to lack of skill, pressure on making as many bats as possible and rushing the work or the quality of the tools used but who knows. Paul Aldred filmed taking the handle apart from an Asian bat and finding some horrible stuff. Now I'm not saying it will be the case with all bats and manufactures but it does appear that handles are one of the biggest problems along with over-drying.
