Post by: Howzat on July 24, 2008, 03:39:57 PM: This really must hurt... i heard his contact lenses broke into his eye. This injury ended his career so lets not laugh about it :-X

Doesn't this show the poor quality of helmets, even today. All the technology available, and players are still being injured?

Post by: Arthur on July 25, 2008, 05:39:32 PM: Well, it doesn't help that he couldn't see the ball! Helmets are only there as primary protection, they can't be guarenteed to protect from all impacts, and if he'd seen it coming this wouldn't have happened. This was in 2003 though wasn't it, and helmets have improved since then.
