Evening all
Just thought I'd share some pictures of my new bat.
This was sourced through my club's overseas player from last season.
The specs are
42mm edges
66mm spine
2lb10 & 7/8 as seen
I think the pictures tell the story better than I can!
There's a couple of specs on the face, and heartwood on the outside edge for a left hander, but the 12 grains make up for that (I'm sure I counted 13 earlier...)

umm, SS higher end models seems (even mid range) to have straight grains with even spacing.
This must be either a special bat or ....
either way...that is a huge bat.
-
Large.
-
would you be able to get another bat like this?
-
SANGAKKARA
-
would you be able to get another bat like this?
I think it would be possible to get something very similar.
Could be worth firing a few emails to suppliers to get one but there's more than likely a few about
-
Got to be a Sanga bat, that dude who posted his said all the masters without a number on are for Sanga only!!
-
SANGAKKARA
Close, but no cigar ;)
It was made for someone called Sangakara according to the toe

@WalkingWicket37 , can you tell us how much you paid for it? curious to know how much an Indian made pro bat would cost when compared to UK/AUS made bats.
Thanks.
-
Very nice Cam! Have a very similar shaped Sareen myself and love it!
-
Lovely bat whoever it was meant for.
-
Lovely bat. How is the pick-up and ping?

Okay confession time...
@uknsaunders and I were discussing the number of "pro bats" while we netted at Dummer the other week. I asked his permission before I posted this.
This whole thread is just a way of showing not everything you see on the internet is true.
I said you could get a £36 SS Master, and with the removal of a few stickers and addition of some Sharpie it would look just like one of the "pro bats" that keep popping up from various retailers.
So I ordered an SS Master for £36 (actually, I ended up with 2). I got lucky that one happened to be huge with 42mm edges and a 66mm spine. It also had some half decent grains, which added some authenticity
Remove the edge and back stickers, use a rag and white spirit (or funky smelling aftershave) to remove the residue, give it a fine sand to tidy up and write on the toe.
You too can have your own pro bat for £36 and half an hour in the garage!

-
:D top work, rather nice bat for £36 too!
-
I'll give you £38 for it.
-
Still a nice looking bat.
-
Here's the two together.
One looks a lot more like a £36 bat than the other...

lovely looking bats, very nice for £36
-
Where did you get this for that price?
-
At a guess online stockist.
-
Grade 5 willow..wow!
-
Yep, bought from OLS
Officially sold as grade 5 English Willow, still - can't grumble at what I received for the price.
-
oh wow, thats super nice for G5. I did raise a flag earlier ...based on looks when you said its a pro bat though :)
-
Good looking SS Master. I think they are pretty good value for the price. Not everyone will love the shape but I've yet see a bad one in person.
-
Since I saw this, I have been thinking about getting on - just to see.
I took in an order for some friends, and asked OLS if they had any decent master 1000 lying around. He said yes, and send one along. Didn't even see it before it arrived.
I removed all stickers but the top 2. Did not particularly like the master sticker either. Thought id post a picture.
40mm edge, 65mm spine (Identical shape and size to my Gutsy, and the two Gold LE i had sent along)

Excellent bat for the money Cam but was never convinced from the pics that it was a pro bat due to the grains and blemishes.
-
Maybe this is how Sanga prepares his bats.......
-
Yep ,its offical then .... Sanga uses g5 bats ! There is no other way to explain it ! :D
-
I'm just amazed my original post was almost a year ago!
And surprisingly enough I no longer own either of the bats... :-[
