Title: How big of a factor are stickers in your purchase ?
Post by: Silver Bullet on May 13, 2016, 08:23:39 PM
How much of a role do classy looking stickers play in your purchase decision ? For me, they largely determine if I will buy the bat or not.

I can never get myself to buy a bat if the stickers are not up to snuff. Largely why I'm yet to go to Red Ink, Aldred or Rk. Can't stand the stickers on either of these brands.

No, no - don't beat around the bush- say what you mean!

Personally, I think that's a foolish statement - if many people reported that Red Inks were superb - worthy of a TK or Salix stick, due to their superb pressing and beautiful shape - you wouldn't buy one because it had a Hedgehog's bollox on the stickers?

Madness!

Red ink make great bats! I wasn't keen on the 2015 stickers but thankfully he had some 2014s left so asked for those applied.

Rk makes some cracking bats, granted his stickers aren't to my taste but there not the worse.

Stickers are hugely important to me!! I will buy a bat merely because I like the stickers!!
And I will refuse to buy a bat if I hate the stickers.

If in honest I don't think there's that much different that can be done to a bat(most shapes can be had from several brands) but stickers make it stand out.

One thing I cannot stand are sticker less bats! Puts me off buying completley, especially in the second hand market.

I am very particular about branding. Couple of months ago I choose B3 over RedInk n branding was one of the reasons....I generally replace SS stickers with Nike.

None whatsoever . I am happy with blank bats that perform like trampolines.

Usually don't make a difference if a bats a beauty. There are always some I'm not keen on, but taking them off and just having a blank stick will work for me.

I prefer Nike stickers (not the huge swoosh on the back) over any Indian branding.

Stickers are massive for me, but my taste often isnt to everyone elses liking.

Not entirely fussed tbh
Stickers for me are definitely not a deal maker, however if they are particularly terrible they can be a deal breaker
Having said that I am quite partial to a blank, and my current match bat is blank, so I could just take them off

Having plenty of Red Ink and Aldred bats to hand the stickers have grown on me (especially Red Ink as I liked the look of the Aldred ones before). Initially I think everyone is drawn to the look of stickers however I find this is more of a factor when purchasing online and not having the bat in your hands.

I have previously discarded a bat on stickers alone until I have picked it up or had a hit with it and then instantly forgot about the stickers and loved the bat.

I think the prime example at the moment is the Woodworm bat that got rave reviews but could you get over having a Woodworm bat and its branding?

Good on you for being honest.
Branding does make a big difference.

No. Because Plenty of superb options to choose from. If they were making something that was head n shoulders above anything on the market, yet had crap stickers, then I don't know what I'd do.

But If Crappy Branding Option has a superb bat for $250, and Classy Branding Option has a superb bat for $280, I'd spend the extra 10-15% for a good looking stick.

Why fuss over grains and blemishes, if you're going to smack an ugly sticker on top ?

I used to be one that looked only at stickers. I always loved the CA stickers on all the bats when I was younger. Now I have to agree @TCB. Once I actually have the bat in my hand, the stickers don't really mean much. I can't say they mean nothing because at the end of the day I still like looking at bats and admiring them. I'm in love with the blankbats style right now. Minimal stickers but they look gorgeous, and the willow isn't too far off either!

Wouldn't affect my buying decision, obviously I prefer some to others, eg on Indian bats hate ss/ton, but like BAS especially the burgundy in the bow 2020, but in the end I buy on other aspects.

For me Profile and performance  are most important. I cant reject a bat based on stickers.

Hmmmm.. I might of not chosen a still good bat in the past because of shocking stickers but I wouldn't now.
I've been using a h4l with red and black stickers, I don't like the stickers but do like the bat, I don't like, the yellow and black hattori stickers either but the chrome ones on the custom model are fantastic.

I'd be looking at quality of the bat and shape over stickers myself.

It's odd if you look at warsop most of their stickers are....well......not great I don't think, then they completely went to the other end of the spectrum with flancy chrome ones for the platinum and venom models...it seemed to work as they sell loads of those.

At odds with some of the forum I can't really get used to a bat without stickers at all...just my preference I suppose..it just don't look right. :)

Stickers won't make me buy a bat but bad stickers will definitely turn me off buying one.

GM's old stickers were super classy.
Then Bradbury's blue n gold stickers were very good.
And then Nixon's first generation stickers were very, very good.

GN and Slaz are consistent and boring.

ALL ASIAN BRAND BATS have the most horrible stickers.

@Sivlar13 they are masive and I thnk they look better in the flesh but I can see where you are coming from. It may surprise you that the Zaramax (blue stickers) is the first bat people tend to be drawn to when they see them all.

Brought bats on performance  only not not liked the stickers so changed them

I was definitely drawn to them due to the size mate they look huge. A lot of stickers do look better when you actually go and have a look.

@Sivlar13 When people ask what the Zaramax is like I find the best way to explain it is like a modern SS Jumbo (Im showing my age now).

Haha I had to google that to find out what it was. My knowledge starts at the Woodworm Flame haha

This pretty much hits the nail on the head, stickers can be removed or changed. If it's a gun bat with horror stickers wack them off and use it blank or apply different ones that you like.

Sometimes just removing some of the stickers can make a cluttered bat look a lot better

If  you are referring to the Jedi Zaramax yellow and blue stickers, a little bright yes, but the bat i got from @TCB is an absolute gun!

Stickers don't matter much to me. Carlos braithwaite's brand has the florescent color going and I would avoid those but if I am getting a gun bat with nice full profile I would care less. Good work there @WalkingWicket37 on cleaning up the master "pro". It's not easy for every one though to cleanly remove stickers.
