Title: Performance Lam Suggestions
Post by: The Lawyer on May 25, 2016, 10:30:44 AM
Hi all

I'm aware there a several threads re lams, and they receive mixed reviews, but I can't see anything recent. I'm looking for suggestions for a performance lam from one of the retailers on this forum. I have plenty of normal bats, and I'd like to try something different. I'm aware of the restrictions in using them, but would love to try one during friendlies. Reviews from people who have purchased one in the past would be best.

Thanks

Don't bother - they really don't make that much more of a difference than a well made single piece bat.

Lams depend heaps more on the ability of the maker.

To make really good lams you need to use 1.5 clefts to make a single bat rather than single cleft. So quite costly and More risk involved.

Not to forget it is quite time consuming. Splitting, glue up.

Also, most makers don't make enough of these to master the whole thing.

And they are almost always bottom heavy or have a general heavy feel to them.

Ryan or RK made my lam.

It's performance was exceptional.

It was made very well(and also cheap, as the rear part of the bat is usually made from a low grade cleft, and the grade 1 front, well you can get a few out of 1 cleft)

And no it wasn't bottoms heavy.

Any suggestions for makers?

Any suggestions for makers?

Many bat makers won't do it openly.
Someone may send you a PM and offer a Pvt service to get it done for you.

Alternately, buy one of those fat CJI Sumo bats.
