Depending on how my net goes Saturday morning, I could be in the market for a lighter blade!
So I'm wanting peoples opinions on bats they've already got. My mate has a Kooka Ghost, and he worships it - probably even takes it to bed with him.
I've seen Romida are now stocking ICON bats - although ICON have their signiture blade for $395 (£200) so I might try get a previous overseas to post me one over should that take my fancy!
I'm open to any suggestions - performance is the only important factor. I've had custom Hunts before, and they were good. But I like trying new bats all the time...
Brand options I can think of:
GN
Kookaburra
ICON
New Balance
RPC
RAW Cricket (although I think they're made elsewhere?)
Newbery (Can source a Quantum LE for £220)
Opening bat; strongest shots: drive, cut; Style: along the deck Weight: 2lb 9-10.
Height - 5ft 9, so a shorter blade is ideal.
Handle: Oval / Semi-Oval (which could be why I'm not getting on with the Kippax).
If people have suggestions I'm all ears! Photos of grains will be added straight to the w**k bank! :D
Thanks!!

Worth adding B3 to the list mate, you can get any shape and size you want. 2lb10z is a pretty standard weight and you'd get a great bat no matter what grade of bat if you were to buy B3.
Also if you're wanting a shorter blade it means the wood that you would essentially cut off the bottom of a SH bat to turn it into a short blade could be put back into the bat to make it slightly bigger, the options available to you are endless with B3
PM me if you want more info or get in touch with David (aka Streaky) Bacon at B3 :)

I can vouch for B3, mine (although not lightweight by any stretch of the imagination) is excellent.
-
Can't believe I forgot B3... :o Such a spanner.
Could add B3, Woodstock, Salix, etc etc! Anything to the list.
If I were to go custom made, I'd want to go to the factory. As I'm in Yorkshire, that restricts a few like Salix, H4L etc!

Raw are just expensive Hunts County bats.
Go to the hunts factory you can get a Grade 1 for around £175
-
You're practically live next to the factory then, a visit is defiantly worth it as you can talk to the guys face to face about exactly what you want and even choose the cleft the bat will be made from. I've been and its bloody great, I changed what I was going to get after visiting the factory, if you ask nicely you might even get a factory tour :)

I'm gonna sound like a parrot here but I also very much enjoyed visiting B3 haha

Aldred Spectre will suit your batting style IMO. I have just ordered my 3rd bat from Paul Aldred as my teammates bought the last 2 bats.
-
I have a hardly used 2 lbs 6 oz bat decorated with genuine Bradbury players stickers for $50'posted if you are in the U.S.

Didn't Richard Bacon used to present Blue Peter? Think you mean Dr David Bacon..

Too right.
No need to pay for some stickers. Get the same thing as close to maker as possible and there are more chances you will get the grade you pay for- even cheaper.
Instead of RAW go with a custom made bat from HUNTS through Jake @ VITAS - excellent value for money.
Instead of paying extra for Newbery stickers go for blank bats.
Instead of ICON get SS/SF (exact same bats with lower pricing and you get the exact grade you pay for- not upgraded)
or if you have some shape in mind get a bat made off one of the makers from this forum (Aldred, Red Ink )

Haha opps yes I mean David, although I wonder if Richard knows how to make a bat :)
-
Yeah I've been informed about ICON
I had an inkling RAW was made by Hunts then stickered up, and I know Tony makes some absolute guns - had a couple! But fancying a change of scenery now - he is definitely an option though!
I'll look into Aldred!
Happy to keep listening to the ideas guys - still, it all depends on Saturday morning. If a lighter bat corrects my ways, then I'll be looking for something!
-
If RAW was what you fancied, get the Hunts through Jake and buy the stickers off RAW's website probably pay less for the same :D
-
Yeah that would definitely be the way to go if I fancied a RAW.
Not sure what to do now haha! Didn't get long to find out if a lighter bat helped out (didn't get a good enough net in the morning to compare) and then got stumped after going to pat the pitch down... I thought the ball was dead so walked down to pat it and got given... great sportsmanship there!

Poor. Some people have no shame...

Try blankbats, B3 or RPC both amazing, couldn't fault either of them able to tailor to your needs and the quality is amazing all my bats from each of the brands have had amazing ping, wouldn't use any other brand now
