Title: Helmet Weights...Ayrtek vs Albion and Masuri
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on January 07, 2010, 11:19:15 AM
Right....our revised Titanium grill samples for 2010 have now turned up from the manufacturer which as shaved 25g off of the previous design. (175g>150g)

Whipped out the digital scales to have weigh off between our helmet and the Albion and Masuri models so that the weights of all 3 can be clarified.

In an attempt to keep a constant for all 3 helmets I have used our Ayrtek Titanium grill on all 3 models which weighs 150g. (The Albion Ti grill clocks in at 220g usually which would obviously add another 70 g to the overall weight).

Albion = 615g (should be 685g)
Masuri = 681g
Ayrtek = 602g

Photos of helmets on the scales as below

Masuri Ti = 681g

Albion Ti (Ayrtek Grill)= 615g (should be 685g when weighed with an Albion Ti220)(http://i444.photobucket.com/albums/qq167/tom_ayrtek/albion1.jpg)

Yeah pleased with the results and a littlesupruised as I thought as Masuri Ti was meant to be under 600g!

Yeh that's our new design of grill on the helmet now, the grill will probably be £40.00 + P&P next year due to the increase in material costs we are facing. The current grill will remain at £30 or possibly cheaper as we have a stock of them with us already.

Dont know as haven't got a masuri ti grill to weigh but they are 150g as well so would still be 681g.

Weighed my own Ayrtek grille which came in at 170g compared to 216g for an Albion Ti. Also, my Ayrtek lid (fibreglass version with Albion Ti) came in at 822g.

not 100% sure about the scales, seems good enough.  (p.s how would I weigh my bats)

jut put you bats on the scales, fairly easy!
my ayrtek came in at 672 inc the new Ti grill.  the decals etc probably account for this slight difference.

Yeh stickers etc all add a bit of weight and the new tooling we have for larger volumes knocks another 30g off the weight of the helmet too.
