i have been told many of the new GN warners wont be that good looking(grains) because of the shear size of the bat.

This was my other option- I believe Stuart at Kingsgrove said the other bat(one above) picked up better and performed slightly better BUT..he said they all perform roughly the same. "It whats on the inside that counts...and believe this will be the best bat i will ever own in my life"

They don't  look anywhere near players  edition.  Hope they perform for you. Just to be clear you haven't  got the bat yet?

I was having this discussion with another forum member earlier today. With these bats you're paying for a low density cleft rather than G1 willow apparently. Low density or not, for the price I'd want it to be a looker personally...

A 2lb13 lump of tree with 50 odd millimeter edges is always going to send the ball flying, isn't it.
For the price and knowing it's going to be a monster bat I'd want one that looked half decent.
Title: Re: MY GN Warner- Knocking In Process Begins !!!(Pictures below)
Post by: dilscoop on May 29, 2016, 09:34:36 PM
the only reason i decided to take a punt on these is that...i could get a top notch uk made bat but that wasnt enough for me because i want to stand out when i walk onto the crease. Very rare you will see a batsman using these bats in the UK.

Remember guys, with that amount of wood at that weight its going to perform...thats why its a very easy decision to have any GN Warner bat made by Stuart.

very valid point but to achieve such results i had sacrifice looks....thats what i have been told

I'm unsure of the price of these. But I can't imagine ther3 cheap. If I had one that looked like some of these I would be miffed. Whether your paying for low density or not. You'd want a nice looking blade for that kind f cash.

Id assume with shipping and customs you wouldnt be getting change from atleast 500 notes but others will be able to comment on that from experience.

Hoping for no custom charges

as far as I understand, then theres no duty on bats into England, only VAT? "Cricket Bats is duty free and has a VAT rate of 20%"

Seeing that Aussie VAT is 10% and that should be deducted when shipped directly to England, youre only 10% out of pocket.

Except royal Mail charge a processing and holding charge. That seemingly seems made up. Could be anything.

True. Danish post is set at 16 pounds.. But all other couriers, phhf, they can practically make their own rules!

Just had a package delivered til FedEx. 25 pounds for checking, and 2,5% surplus on "customs they paid for the package to be delivered"

Parcel: 300USD, 25% VAT in DK, = 75 USD, Customs 14% (Clothes) = 52USD + 35USD for FedEx checking it, and 2,5% of the ENTIRE total being a whopping = 166 USD on top of the parcel.
This is okay, i figured this would happen. Thing is, ALL cricket gear is totally excempt in Denmark, VAT customs everything - but then they put it down as an OAR and charge the whole bs again..

First regarding the bat. I only have one, but it is the best performing bat that I have, and thats why I bought it not for how it looks. I honestly don't like the look of big bats, and find the stickers jarring, but the performance is extraordinary. The chaps at Meulemans, where I bought mine, said that it is the best performing bat model they have ever had on their shelves, and given they have coached the best and have several generations of first class players, they have some knowledge to determine what is a good bat. For this season I don't know how the other models will compare. I suspect they will all be good, which will be best is hard to tell, and realistically will have to take the resellers word for it, as they will see them all passing through. As customers even if we buy each model, we are only seeing one of each, so not really the basis for comment.
But to the bat choices I would say go on the advice of the reseller, if looks are your thing thats a different matter, but I don't think this bat is about elegant lines and perfect grains, rather amazing performance, and the reseller that has them all to hand is best placed to tell you that.

Getting a heavy bat that picks up 4oz lighter is fine, if you are used to the weight. If you're used to using 2.9 then 2.13, no matter how it picks up is still going to feel heavy after batting for a while. You are still picking up 2.13 every shot and not 2.9

If you're only in for 5 overs then it probably won't make much difference

Fair enough. Was just a general statement really. People get so focused on pick up and think it will help them get a bigger bat but they always struggle. I've carried out weight reductions on about 4-5 bats recently where they had been to other makers to request a light pick up but heavier than normal bat and were then too embarrassed to go back to them to ask for a reduction when they couldn't use it for more than 10 overs. I think an oz or 2 above weight is normally ok. Any more and you could start to notice the difference after a while

Totally true same applies using a light bat if you are used to using a much heavier bat in my opinion

Say I had a family member in Australia, this in theory should make delivery etc cheaper, right? Or is it purely when it comes through to RM and they pick a random number out of a hat for handling etc?

Not that I have the talent/ability to own one, but I'm certainly stupid enough to get one a few years down the line.
Title: Re: MY GN Warner- Knocking In Process Begins !!!(Pictures below)

I think you have to pay VAT, plus a handling fee, a storage fee and a totally plucked out the air fee.

If you have a generous family member who sends it as a gift you may avoid this, but you could get in trouble for fraudulent customs declarations.
