Title: Verdict is in for Hillrich Sports
Post by: Australian fast bowler on June 09, 2016, 07:42:32 AM
Hello,

Few days back i mentioned i was receiving some gear free of charge from a Pakistani company called Hillrich Sports. Was strange circumstances as they were keen on sending me a kit, free of charge. Sounding very suspicious, i asked the forum if they had heard of the company and tried to do some research but could not find very much. SO i thought i would bite the bullet and see what arrives. Well it arrived today.

I received this kit this afternoon AUS time. Just keeping in mind, the company asked me for what weight bats i would like and what size kit i would require.
I asked for bats weighing 2lb 8oz and MENS Right hand

So this afternoon i received
2 bats,
2 Sets of Pads
2 sets of gloves

Sounds Fairly Straight forward....couldnt be further from the truth.
I received 2 bats weighing 2lb 12.5oz and 2lb 10.oz respectively,
2 Pairs of Mens glove, 1 Left hand pair, 1 Right hand Pair
and finally 2 sets of Pads, 1 Pair Mens RH and 1 pair Youths Left Handed

I know it was free gear but i thought i would send the company a quick message saying it arrived and that there seemed to be a breakdown in communication.
I was greeted with abuse for being ungrateful and complaining. They came up with that my bats had gained weight in the 3 days DHL took to send them from their base in Pakistan. This went back and forth to them now blocking my number and social media accounts.

The bats themselves, while being too heavy for me, actually look quite ok and seem to perform relatively well off the Mallet. Have noticed there is quite a lot of "bog" in the splice of one of the bats.

Ive taken some photos of the RH MENS stuff and the bats.

Will add the specs of the bats shortly

Cheers

100% agree mate, the pads are probably the best thing. the gloves are tight, very small mens but was assured they are indeed mens.

How did they contact you? I'd be a bit worried that they were trying to get contraband into the country. I've seen a few stories about people smuggling drugs into countries inside cricket bats (Also heard a few horror stories of the customs guys drilling genuine bats!) I hope they haven't said they will come and pick them back up from you?

I contacted them, they popped up on a group i am in on Facebook. I just asked did they have a price list or a catalogue of the gear they sell and then they started sending some pics and went from there. They have blocked me and  said if i didnt like the kit to get rid of it as they did not care.

Have done it for a few companies, no one ever has sent free stuff tho

By the fact they sent left and right handed softs I cant help but think this was a sample as they thought you were a retailer? That or they're just useless communicators

Looks horrendous anyway, mind you...

Useless communicators would be unkind to those who are useless communicators, i think one of the bats will come up alright after removing the stickers (NON Bog one)
Pads go well however

Congrats on the free kit. But the  kit just looks sub-par, especially those bat stickers.

@ItsJustCricket these look hand made and the stickers are very transparent.
Are you negotiating a hand picking session?  ;)
