Sorry for the picture quality, its down to the current doom and gloom weather, there are 7 reasonably straight, even grains lurking in that photo.
We have just received a batch of 10 H4L bats all made to order for customers all around the world. 9 are happy, 1 is not.
I was contacted by a forum member who wanted a LB bat. Initially they asked for G2, then changed their mind and wanted Custom, eventually settling on a Hellfire G2 LB. They asked me to issue a paypal payment request. I sent one. We are extremely busy currently and i never thought to check payment came through, i had already ordered the bat and my good nature meant it wasn't much of an issue, i operate this way with a number of trusted customers. The bat was received recently and i nudged the customer for payment. The asked for photos and then expressed disappointment at seeing a finished bat. They had hoped for cleft photos to choose from. I found this odd as they had stressed they wanted to heavily favour performance over looks.
I explained that no-one gets cleft photos without paying first. And in any case Matt is extremely busy making bats, he can't be taking photos constantly. Cleft photos are generally reserved for Custom models only, which is something i had made clear during previous conversation when the customer switched back to a G2 from a Custom.
In any case, the customer no longer wants the bat despite it meeting all of their requirements:
Long Blade
Just under 2'11
As full as possible at this weight
39mm edge
65mm spine
Goes like a rocket
If you are in the market for a long blade this is their loss and your gain. Our normal price is £195 + £15 knocking in with free UK delivery.
THIS BAT IS AVAILABLE FOR £175 WITH FREE KNOCKING IN AND UK DELIVERY.
Get in touch, I doubt I will have it for long.

Looks as though someone got a long blade gun!!
Absolutely. Hassle free experience for both parties and a happy customer at the end of it too.

I am curious, has any SH size bat user ever used an SH configuration with a LB blade? I know this amazing batsman who uses this config to great effect.

A SH with a LB would just be a long blade surely? Or do you mean SSH with a LB to make overall length of a standard SH?

^ latter.

Very generous grading! If i received a g2 looking like that, i would be disappointed. Not to say the bat doesnt/wont perform. Moral of the story....always make clear what you want!

I must say the customer is not being completely unreasonable here. For 200 pounds this is one ugly duckling!!

Refuting it's a G2 ??

I'm with Jake on this one! Looks are not an issue. The grains are wide but look straight.
For me I would be seeking reassurance that performance is there! And if it went like a rocket, then happy days :D

All you boys saying it's generously graded, it has 7 straight even grains (that run through the toe) and no blemishes in the hitting area. Some brands would sell that as Grade 1 willow.
What do you lot expect grade 2 to look like?
-
it's the pressing with these ,you don't need a G1 for it to be a gun so looks are a bit irrelevant
H4L are def the best grade 2's ive used in recent years

Here is a bat from a similar price point...

The h4l looks fine to me.

Looks good from where I'm sitting, I think it would be pretty unfair to automatically expect a looker from a reliable brand for under £200 nowadays.
