Hi All
As we were rained off for the 2nd week in a row today I thought I'd review some softs!
Here are some Hunts County Aura batting pads.
These are a nice looking pair of traditional pads.
They have 7 canes and the front is very clean with only has two logos present (and most importantly, nothing on the side wings which I'm not a huge fan of!)
As the 7 canes are all actual canes rather than the high density foam some pads use the protection levels are very good (especially for the price).
The instep is made of mesh rather than leather, which I'm a big fan of as it will hopefully mean there is no squeaking.
The knee locator is well cushioned and feels as if it will keep the pad in place, while there is a plastic cup behind the cushioning to provide a sturdy feel.
The top hat also has a cane construction so will provide good protection without being too bulky. At around 840g per pad these aren't the lightest pads on the market, but they aren't heavy either.
The only quibble some may have is the lack of padded straps, but that can easily be rectified if need be.

Very nice.

Like the front. Not the back.

I agree - reminds of when you see a slim long haired blonde. Upon turning, it is clear the face isn't quite as attractive as expected. (Edited from the original version)
Lovely looking pads from the front- simple, classical design, but the rear screams 'contemporary', very loudly. It seems to be a bit of a split personality - inconsistent in the group it is appealing to.
The weight of 840gms is very light for a full cane pad (GN Prestige are 926gms and Legend 852gms, according to IJC reviews). Did you weigh a pair, or is it the marketing team at HC's figure?
If this were available in a plain back, I'd be very tempted.
Thanks for sharing.

@leatherseat I weighed then myself mate.
One was 835 grams and one was 842 grams, so I took an average and rounded it up to the nearest round number.

I really like the look of these!

One of the only parts of kit that never gets seen on the field is such a sticking point?

Hi, I agree it is not a major issue, but with so much choice out there, for softs, the look has to be right. That amount of colour glaring up from my bag pushes them down the wish list a bit. As with most products, I'd prefer to see and try a few on, side by side, to ensure the fit and feel were right. I don't doubt the quality from Hunts County.

They look quality they are all sourced from India so as you seen from the gloves they were exactly the same as the SS gloves and these pads aren't any different to the SS pads either top quality for such a great price
