The city I live in, has just announced a monorail going all through town, some 30 km all in all.
Also they have announced that the entire length of the rail will be lined with, yeah you guessed it, Salix Alba.
A whopping 1200 trees of cricket bats has just been planted, right outside my place..
Might get a chainsaw out in 10 years time!

I hope it's the Caerulea variety and appropriately damp - most cricket bat grade Salix Alba Caerulea needs a huge amount of water to be any good.
Caerulea is not usually grown as an ornamental willow!

They've have specifically chosen these, not sure it's caerulea, for their ability to withstand floods and heavy amounts of rain. When they put them up, I'll take a picture :-)
