Interesting.
Spartan really are trying aren't they
-
On a side note, I stumbled on the Spartan Diamond softs the other day. Best in the whole range if you ask me, and reasonably priced too.
-
Those diamond softs are extremely nice! Caught my eye as well.
-
Pads £65 & Gloves £50 - that is not terrible at all.
*Disclaimer - I don't work for Spartan*

Sponsor a player that doesn't even play anymore
Seems like a solid business plan!
First the Viv Richards, now this!
-
I wonder how much they're paying him. Stickers look bloody awful though.
Didn't they sign up Andre Russell as well recently?

I'm not sure mate, I think the Indian's will lap it up. You have to remember the man is God in that country, not a cricketer

Very good move from Spartan IMO, his fan base is huge after all. Should make a massive impact on their Indian presence alongside their other ambassadors.
-
This is a big move and for sure they will be adding some current indian players too soon.
The only thing is SRT shaped bats are less in demand these days
People want kohli shaped duck bill toes etc
-
Ordinary looking bats with over priced labels and third class stickers.
I think within a year or two, it will be a forgotten brand.

We said that a few years ago... the brand is much bigger in Aus/India than it is here from my understanding.

I'm not so sure about that you know.
They were very quiet in the UK last season, but their focus seems to be on the Australian and Asian markets.
They've thrown a lot into marketing down under (sponsoring younger players, ridiculous coloured bats in the Big Bash etc.) and by signing up Sachin they're clearly trying to make their presence known in the sub continent. They've also snapped up a couple of the West Indies boys and I've seen a few being used in the County Championship this season so they're getting some exposure in a few places.
It could go either way, but I've got a feeling Spartan are more than likely here to stay in some capacity for the long haul.

2.25M pounds. MS must be a wealthy chap if he can afford to take that kind of hair cut in sponsorship. Certainly an interesting business plan by Spartan... Sign them up, don't pay.
-
Reportedly didn't pay Prior either, or a UK based batmaker they used for some sponsored players bats

It sounds like a mirror image of Mongoose and Woodworm

They have survived longer than I thought they could.
