An example of each is here, can't work out why they'd have different badges?
-
Notts have (or had) a different badge for capped players, can only assume it's the same for Yorks
-
Ah fair enough, can't say I've noticed it watching Notts, or before this even, thanks :)
-
Closed rose is a bud, which is for non-capped players
-
It's the same with their jumpers, capped players have navy, sky blue and gold stripes, uncapped just navy.
-
May have been asked before but is there a definition of when a player can be capped? Is it number of seasons/appearances?
-
Correct, Yorkshire actually have 3 variations that we reeled off some crests for them previously.
Leicester have a different colour for capped uncapped from memory. All other counties don't seem to bother
-
What is the third? Is it for colts appearing for he first team or something?
-
Yeh academy from memory

Surrey have different caps. A county capped player has this cap:

a non capped player just has the feathers. We also have 2nd XI capped players who have a different cap to wear ( i think the surrey badge has roman numerals for 2 under it).
Players jumpers also feature the capped logo or 2nd Xi capped logo under the feathers

Warwickshire do... Capped players have a white bear, not capped are yellow
-
Same with Sussex... Capped players have six martlets on their sweaters, and the crest with gold trimming on their caps; uncapped players instead have only the club crest on their left breast, and white trimming on their caps.
-
Hampshire used to have different crests but changed a couple of years ago under their "one club" initiative. From EPP to first team players all wear the standard badge.

You're capped when you are formally awarded your county cap. No set period or number of appearances, just when the county feels you've earned it, and the associated pay rise!
Also, being capped starts the clock rolling for when you'll get a benefit season. Typically, players are granted a benefit season after roughly 10 years as a capped player, although there are no formal rules for being granted a benefit.
-
At our club we cap our players based upon years of service, outstanding achievements and contributions for the team, it's mainly for our first and second team but there have been exceptions

Yes for academy players to wear.
