Title: Just something i wanted to share...
Post by: Woodyspin on August 04, 2016, 10:15:32 PM
So a while ago my friend got hold of Steven Finn's signed pads (England T20 Red) and the knee cup on them are ridiculously robust! couldn't move them nor did they feel like the plastic bit that are in my 'Test' oblivion pads. Goes to show the amount of protection these pros get, has anyone noticed similar with kit they may have acquired?

I am curious about the weight of those pads. Are they heavier than normal pads of that range?

I wont see him this weekend but will ask him to bring them round so i can weigh them, what's about average? All he said was they are very light.

If the Pro pads are of extraordinary quality then vendors could sell the same for a premium price to other customers as well. Does anyone sell like that ??

Morrant & Puma Evo SL pads seem to be quite close to what MS and Brendon use.

I don't know what's the average for any make or brand. Many moons ago, I bought and fell in love with Aero P1 leg guards (small); they are the lightest pads on the market. So, I wonder about other brands and their weights.

^ White bordering on beige.  :D They have seen some action. I will post pics later.

I was looking at pics of peoples' kits in 2016 kit thread and was thinking how "neat and clean their kits are." :D

I had a pair of sponsored player GM OLE pads. They were a little lighter than the standard OLE pads yet offered more padding/protection without being clubersome.

I really liked them then I realised I'm not going to face the pace the pro's face day in so I went for some Puma flex pads thinking being light and mobility was more important. I've removed the extra padding and have been hit full on a few times. You feel it more but it doesn't hurt. It just reminds you to use the bat more.
