Title: Warsop Cricket
Post by: tohani on August 16, 2016, 09:25:25 AM
Hello All,

Despite having purchased one of the Vitas Hunts County and a B3 in the flash sale, I can't help but keep looking at Warsop bats. I played against a chap on Sunday who had one and it seemed to pick up nicely, but haven't seen too much about them on the forum (my go-to source for all bat information!) Does anyone have any opinions/verdicts etc?

Thanks!

always been a quite well regarded bat maker as far as I am aware. However, haven't had one in years so not sure about the standard today

I played in the Essex league for a short while and they were everywhere - can't say I heard a bad word about them performance wise!

really nice people and company, they make some great bats and their range of softs is very good as well

if you can get down to their workshop to have a look around i'd definitely recommend it

if it were me i'd stick to the Platinum price point because they go like the clappers and are really nice bits of willow, i'm not sure you gain much more from the Marlin or Inspire 152 price points

Having now used their bats for the past three seasons, I'd strongly recommend them. Best bats i've ever had! Went to their workshop every time to pick out my bat. Normally end up going for one's not stickered up nowadays and apply my own but they have plenty of bats at the workshop. Smaller than you'd think! They do seem to have majority 2lb 9oz and above! Got told my bat choice was "far too light" for me apparently but it was a 2lb 8oz wand

Always wanted to buy a used platinum but never found any with a chunky profile at 2.8 or less.
I only heard good things about Warsop bats.

Ive got a mate who loves his bats. He has used bats from most of the sponsors on here, along with top range offerings from Kookaburra,GN,GM etc. According to him nothing compares to his Warsop Platinum and he always goes back to using it sooner or later and sells his other bats on. In fairness his Warsop is an absolute cannon.

Let me know when he gets a new Warsop and is ready to sell the current one (as long as it's not broken).

Anyone know if this is the correct website to purchase one from?

http://www.handmadebats.co.uk/store/ (http://www.handmadebats.co.uk/store/)

Pretty tempting to get a Platinum, very good prices from a small established brand. :)

100% recommend Warsop, has quite a bit of kit from them in the past, a look around their workshop is always a treat, plus you never know which pro you will bump in to......but my money is on it being Alistair Cook !

Thought Gray Nics made his actual bats as well as sponsoring? Fairly sure they've tweeted pictures in the past...

Haven't heard of Cooky still using Warsops either. Ravi's been spoken about a fair bit mind

Cooky used to  live near Warsop (belive his parents still do), not sure whether he just pays a visit or gets a stick but seen him in there on a fair few occasions, along with a number of the Essex team.

His home club is Maldon CC so that would be true, only down the road really from Warsop. I've seen Napier and Pettini picking up gear and Warsop having gear put aside for them.

When I went to pick up my Canterbury that had been in for repair at the back end of last season, Ravi Bopara and Tom Westley were in getting some bits

@pumakid had a venom pro the last two seasons - absolute machine! Bought a Marlin this year as was so happy with the bat, yet to finish knocking it in, but from the outset all signs look great!

Wasn't there a story that Ravi had 47 bats off them one year?

Interesting to see Mohammed Amir sponsored by them -especially as he's rumoured to be using a bat given to him by Virat Kohli. He never was the most honest of chaps?

Me and a mate went down there last year to get a custom made bat for him. He asked me who was the best around and having had four or five worsops I said them. Unluckily that custom made bat split at the back and in the handle, warsop replaced it and that one went in the same place after a couple of innings.
Personally I think they are great it maybe my mate just had bad luck with two bats.

You do feel responsible sometimes, your mate asks you to sort a bat out and they both break!

But it can happen to any brand, I'd have a warsop platinum again tommorow.

I've got warsop in my arsenal ATM but thinking of selling it, it's a venom if anyone fancies it I'll stick it in the for sale section and let you's compete for it

@number3 the weight of the bat is 2.11 but picks nicely, slightly lighter. I'll send you some pictures later when I get home to take them
