Does anyone use running spikes rather than cricket specific spikes? If so, do you use them just for batting or out in the field as well? As I know they don't have any spikes towards the heal of the shoe, which I would imagine, would make it hard to stop when running out near the boundary - specially when wet.
I ask as I'm thinking of purchasing some running spikes from Millet Sports:

or

Your comments and info will be very appreciated. Cheers, Tom

I wouldnt if i was you - the heels tend to have very little support, for batting if you get a yorker your feet will get mangled and when bowling you need a thickish sole for absorbing the impact of landing through the bowling action.........unless you are a specialist fielder and want to put some extra large running spikes in (still small for compared to cricket spikes), then i would say get a lightweight pair of asics, they are popular for a reason.
Alternatively, if your not a fan of asics, find a decent pair of trainers and spike them up.
I just feel that the two you have highlighted wouldnt be worth it.

Cheers mate. I do have a pair of lightweight New Balance which look along the lines of the Puma Iridium Spikes (except orange instead of blue), where do you get them spiked up at and is this a feasible alternative to buying spikes?

Getting trainers spiked up for fast bowling isnt ideal, most likely to get wrecked, so i would stick to specialist cricket shoes. Running shoes will just give you huge blisters ifyour wearing them for long periods of time. Asics Gel advances are very comfy...

Yeah you need cross training shoes ideally to spike up for bowling, as the leather upper will not get wrecked like some trainers would.

I'll have to try a pair of Asics on then, only ever worn GM or Adidas spikes. I bowl off spin(some medium pace in the nets), so not too worried about ankle support, just wondered if running spikes were a benifit during batting, but I guess they would provide much protection. Thanks for the comments you guys.
