Yesterday one of my team mates brought a brand new Grey Nicholls bat (F18 from what I recall) to practice. I picked up the bat and it felt quite heavy for its weight. It had perfectly straight 10 grains on the face. And then I noticed the words Kashmir Willow on the bat. On being asked how much he paid for it, he said $450. Apparently it was picked by his cousin who is a test player for West Indies (currently not in the team) who told him that Kashmir willow is better for batting on mats. I asked him why he did not buy an English willow and I was told that they cost $750. Now, is this Kashmir willow bat some kind of special Kashmir willow bat used by pros ?

If he had said $45 dollars I'd have believed him. But until someone shows me a link that proves this bat for this price. I'm afraid I just can't.

This theory that Kashmir is better for hard surfaces as been around for a while due to the willow being harder but it's also naturally heavier and as far as I am aware there's no special Kashmir willow

Exactly. And he tried to convince me that because of exchange rate with the US dollar being cheaper than GBP, the GN bats cost more in England than in the US. :D

This whole theory sounds so BS to me.
In any case, this guy also bought a $370 Spartan that looks like a grade 2. And another buy that cost him $350 from a guy in my area in US who gets his bats made in Pakistan and claims that he is one of the few "ICC approved bat manufacturers". :D

Bat margins! We've been sayin forever about how massive the margins are, now we have proof! Buy for 20 quid, sell for $450!
