Title: Batting Technique
Post by: singapore rookie on September 04, 2016, 07:10:56 AM
Off late I have noticed that the bat turns in my hands, how do I correct it?

Are you bottom hand dominant? Tend to find that the bat twists if your bottom hand grip is too tight.

If you think it's an equipment issue, I tend to find that octopus grips give the best results, but they'll shred your gloves unless you've got pittards.

You can make your handle a little more oval as that works for some people

Practicing with a stump or middling bat can also help you getting used to hitting the ball under your hands more too.

Get a bat with a thinner handle

@GoodLeave Don't think that I have a dominant bottom hand, but could be because I am trying to hit it with more power
@Buzz I am currently using a round handle, is there a way I can make it oval?
@Seniorplayer Does a thinner handle than not cause choking of the handle?

You can use electrical tape to make the handle thicker and oval at the bottom that should help

Yep - I'm a half and halfer. Love a big thick handle ;) I use tape on two opposing sides of the handle, then tape round it - this makes the handle go quite oval.

If it's because of a bottom hand dominant grip - just relax up that bottom hand. Have a net - forgot hitting the ball for 4 etc - just use the top hand and then bottom hand to support the bat (no more, it doesn't need to hold on etc). A lot of the time it's due to a RH batsman being right handed - as such the right arm is dominant and therefore stronger, so often can take over if the technique isn't quite right!
