I have a GN quantum with one of those carbo handles. It is in rough condition but will fix up fine. However, as a LH is is no use to me. Does anyone have any experience of cutting down one of these handles to make it SH? Thanks

Yeah good shout make it a shorter blade.

Regular cane is easy to saw off...you may need a heavier saw (like one for cutting metal?) To cut the carbon..
But, given the toe, just cut an inch off the bottom, as already suggested

A mate of mine cut the top of his and it really made the bat make a really horrible sound so I would avoid doing it if I was you

Would a problem with cutting an inch off the bottom be that the balance and middle position will be quite considerably effected?

Cheers for your feedback guys

It was and the carbo bit is only in the bottom off the Handel the top is a hard plastic with three holes was a bit strange but as soon as he took the top off the bat made a really horrible sound still played ok but sound was like it was delaminated and is did not make the sound before he took the top off the Handel

I have one The Carbo is a thin piece of Carbon Fibre mAterial placed At the top of the splice around the bats natural stress point for about 3 inches to offer protection to the handle the ball damage at the base of the handle.
The inserts springs are made of cork inserted into 12 piece cane the carbon can give a flex to the handle.
The handle cap is simply to reduce the acoustics.
As a cricket bats pivot point is around 6 inches from the top of the handle reducing the handle length can make the pick up feel slightlyheavier

Really appreciate all the feedback. I glued it all back up and cut an inch off the toe. To be honest the pickup doesn't appear to be affected. I had to remove the stickers from the back though or it would have looked a little odd. They have left a bit of a shadow.
Finally I rounded off the toe on the belt sander.

Yes PVA. Bound it with fibreglass tape then clamped it.

what a transformation, let us know how it goes.

It goes fine. No dead sounding areas. However, the middle isn't fantastic and is fairly small, and an inch nearer the toe than it used to be.
