Is the price going up @The Doctor?

The forum is full of Northerners, so they all probably think "how f***ing much" then take their whippet down the pub for a pint of bitter and plate of chips & gravy ;)

Is Nottingham even classed as northern??
Anyway of have had several, unfortunately the doctor kept telling me even if they just handled a crown cleft, it's still be too light.....😞
-
Chips, Cheese and gravey is more like it, can't beat a good tray full of the stuff after a night out.
Are they going to 600 squids @thedoctor or are you stopping them?
Would love a Trott crown, what weight would that come out at Streaky?

Soul man that is one sexy bat 👍👍👍👍
-
Ok, this may be a stupid question but what exactly is crown willow? Is it just a straight grainy cleft? Is it always low density? Again, pardon my ignorance just curious.
-
Average density is 400 I think and a crown bat is around 350 with perfect looks. So you could get the same size bat as a 400 cleft and it would be 5oz lighter, or a larger bat at the same weight

It's another reason manufacturers are able to push prices up to ridiculous levels and try and justify it, a la players grade, grade 1+++ etc etc
No disrespect to B3 intended whatsoever, the bats look stunning but anyone paying £500 for a bit of shaped and pressed wood needs their head looking at IMHO. No doubt the finishing and quality is top notch as always, and yes you pays your money you makes your choice, but half of one thousand pounds on a bat is quite simply barking.
-
A lot of money, but they do look stunning bats

Each to there own mate, the same could be said about buying cars, houses, holidays, watches etc but some of us think it's good value, mine was not £500 was actually £400 as I bought it 18 months ago. When you think GN, kook, GM can charge £700 for a legend or players bat and it's just stock it isnt bad value. Add in B3 will guarantee performance or give you a new bat plus quality after care it's not bad at all

I have to add that the crown willow really is Limited, we have had coming up to 10,000 clefts come through the door since we have opened and have had about 100 crown clefts. These really are as rare as rocking horse do do, I agree it is a lot of money but they really are the cream, and if you can afford it, why not. These clefts don't even get offered to the Pro's.
Plus if you compare a similar service at GN, we are half the price. You can't buy a similar service at GM.

i got one 2 seasons ago, its still going strong and i havent even had to think about buying another bat. 13 ruler straight grains and a big bat with a moderate amount of con-caving at the measly weight that i use (2.7)
i used to buy a new bat every season, this one has scored over a thousand runs and has netted on average 3 times a week at least and it is only now starting to show signs of cracking etc.
Add that to the fact you are in complete control of what cleft you want and the shape etc and i would say that 500 for a bat with a guarantee and excellent customer service that will be having a refurb and going into its third season is better value than buying a mass produced gray nics or gm etc etc
nothing but praise for streaky and the team

That's fair enough @The Doctor mine was a genuine question as to what was so unique about them I wasn't trying to start a witch hunt in anyway so if they really are 1/100 clefts then that pretty much answers it.
-
To be fair the bats pictured in this thread look like they are worth £500. As others have pointed out the big 3 price bats a lot higher with these looks.
I don't have an issue with this as all brands should have a flagship model even if it is out of reach of the average customer. Having something that looks as good as these will draw potential buyers to the brand.

I don't care how sad I sound, but I never get tired of looking at willow like that
-
Absolute beaut! Out of interest what makes it a crown I bought a B3 recently and only saw three grades 1/2/3 stripe?
-
How much are the crown grades again?

£500
Cheers mate. Well I guess if I was paying that sort of money for a bat I'd go for the crown rather than the NB Limited Edition shown in a recent thread.

Too true - that sort of money isn't for everyone but there is no denying the clefts used are absolutely stunning
-
@Mattsky Very nice profile. How is the ping now? getting better?
-
Ta @Ams4287 Yep, I still rate the profile. Ping is superb now. Only thing I'm concerned about is the bloke who's holding it :D
Streaky and the B3 chaps know their willow, that's for sure.
-
Here is the finished article for the cleft I posted previously. Apologies in advance as my photo skills aren't up to the level of some on here.

Oh boy, looks like a beaut of a cleft. This shape is just a slightly larger Beluga to accommodate for the now 40mm edge limit? ;) Seems like it will have a massive coverage!

Agree stunning cleft but for me a bloody ugly profile, I don't see how it could pick up well or be balanced, but B3 must know what they are doing as always seem to produce forum favourite profiles
-
@Mattsky your bat looks phenomenal. This is by far one of the best bat that I have ever seen.
-
@ajnabi02 @KW9221
Thanks chaps. Yes, I never tire of looking at it. The Doctor picked me out one hell of a cleft.
And thanks to the willow's structure and profile, the ball stays hit too.
I don't think I'll ever have a better bat, to be honest. I really did strike lucky.
With it being winter at the moment, I haven't used it in anger for a few months.
Just a bit of TLC is needed, and it'll be good to go again come summer. :D
