Title: Two lovely BDM bats
Post by: Chad on September 14, 2016, 07:54:05 PM
Same story as the past few threads, too lazy to do a full review, so just some specs and general comments. :)

First up, we have a BDM Fire!

Specs:
Weight - 2lb 10.46oz
Spine - 66mm approx
Edge - 41mm
Toe Edge - 19mm
Toe - 24mm
Shoulder - 12mm
Concaving - Minimal to none

Massive bat for the weight, and picks up alright. Not too light and not too heavy, and has a fair bow to it for those interested. :) Lovely bit of willow for a low grade, about 6-7 straight grains which are pretty clean! I have removed the FIRE sticker on the front and the back stickers excluding the splice ones, as I felt they were a bit too loud.

Next up, a BDM Dynamic Power Extreme, apparently made to one of ABdV's profiles. (He's probably used many, so not sure how true this is)

Specs:
Weight - 2lb 9.44oz
Spine - 63mm approx
Edge - 41mm
Toe edge - 20mm
Toe - 24mm
Shoulder - 12mm
Concaving - Minimal to none

Another big bat for the weight, this one pings superbly too. There is a bow present for those interested, and it doesn't seem detrimental to performance, but the toe part is a bit softer than the rest. Pick up is good - feels pretty light but not overly so. The looks on this one are fantastic, with 9 straight and evenly spaced grains with the odd speck here and there.

Also, an interesting side note is that these bats are this big because they use the same kind of 'cheat' that Kookaburra have with their Ghost, with the width being around 107-108mm at the face, then tapering as it reaches the back. Nothing wrong with this imo, a clever way of reducing the weight and increasing the wood in the middle.

Anyways, will update this when I can find some more time and be bothered to. :P Hope you enjoy the pics!

Beautiful bats, did you buy them from a UK stockist or direct from India?

Hi mate, I got them from Eclipse All Sports in the UK. With the current exchange rate and delivery, I think price wise it worked out only very slightly more expensive than importing from India. Excellent bats, I've had 3 so far and all have went like trains!

That BDM Fire looks massive for the weight. @Sitonit , is this similar to the shape you're looking for? Big edge, big toe, big bow. Perhaps slightly thin on the shoulders and a fraction heavy though.

BDM is like the hunts county of UK. may be little better in shape as they do sponsor some international teams

Spine is about 10mm too high! Maybe with the tapering width, he could achieve what he wants in 2.8 though. :)

Agreed here about the AB profile, it is gorgeous! I have to admit, the 'AB' label on the profile did end up influencing the decision to go with it, but can't deny that it's a belter. :)
