Title: London net, anyone?
Post by: rickjames on September 30, 2016, 12:13:37 PM
As per the title really; we had a few last year at the Oval which weren't bad, although it appears that those who were there are now in 'Southern' territory and all that.

Ideally a 2 hour net (7-9pm) between six people. I'm fairly flexible with dates, IIRC it was about £13 a head. If there's another location that's London based I'm open to a little travel. Lords can do one because the idea of practicing in whites is abhorrent...

About me: I'm awful with a batting average this season of something like 5, and can't bowl for toffee. I do have a Sidearm Pro that is in need of some use, as well as a GoPro to film bits and bobs.

Cheers
Alex

Lords get's a bad rap sometimes, I love the ground, In fact......i'm going on the tour for my birthday.

But let's be frank, having to where whites for net practice is a nonsence....it's like  1920 or something  :)

Sounds like a great idea. I'm in London 3 days a week so decent chance I can come along if it's the oval

Definitely interested! There are a few midweek nights I won't be able to make but I certainly want to get netting. Lords would be too much of a trip for me tho.

Post by: rickjames on October 05, 2016, 10:19:22 PM
Net would be October, so a few weeks time.

Looks like we have Tuesday 18th leading, I can do that which would make it 4. Two more people?

I should add I haven't booked or enquired about costs, will only go that far when I know we have the numbers

I'm good for the 18th, might need to borrow some pads as just sold my last pair and my new set won't arrive by the 18th.

The nets cost £40 per hour. We do our club winter nets there. Unfortunately that night isn't possible for me. But hope it goes well and that there will be others.

So going off the above, for the 18th October we have @MD2812 @Chalkie @Stuey @felix and myself (if you could all confirm it'd be appreciated). If this is the case we need one more person. Anyone up for it?

I've sent an email about an available net and costs, assume I'll get a response on Monday.

Cheers @Chalkie

Got an email yesterday confirming which venue I was enquiring about despite saying the Oval. Not heard anything yet but I'll query them first thing tomorrow morning. I'd expect it to be £13 odd a head like last time though.

@Chalkie - can't do the 18th I'm afraid - otherwise I'd be down like a shot.

You need to get yourself out to Eversley - nice and humid in there! :)

Got an email today; nets are available 7-9pm at £40 an hour, so if you round up nicely it's £13.50 each between six of us. I haven't booked anything yet.

We have myself, @Stuey , @MD2812  and @Chalkie so far. Yay nay @felix ?

Looking forward to this.

Any chance we can bring the time forward as my journey home is 1.5hrs, last time I think they let us book 6.30 - 8.30, or I could even start at 6 if they only allow bookings on the hour?
Title: Re: London net, anyone?
Post by: rickjames on October 13, 2016, 05:51:40 PM
I don't mind doing 6:30-8:30 if it's possible with everyone here and they're OK with it. Could also do 6 at a stretch
Title: Re: London net, anyone?

Yep that works. I could prob do from 6 , just depends on work.

Title: Re: London net, anyone?

Net sessions need to be booked by the hour, so either 6-8 or 7-9. Think at the moment it'll have to be the latter or nothing at all. If that doesn't work out I'm honest I'm totally fine with organising another one later in November instead.

Hell I can probably make 6 at a push if everyone else can, wouldn't want that to be a deal-breaker.

Are you Malc? Don't wanna make it all a manic rush or anything like that for you

Yes count me in for 6pm, work diary looks good so far, worse case I'll rock up 15 mins or so late.

Guys, hope we are still on for this tomorrow, I can do 7-9 if we can't get 6-8 to work. Have PM'd @MD2812 as think he was the only one who hadn't confirmed.

I need confirmation tonight as will have to get bag ready so can bring into work on the train and tube - that will make for an interesting journey  :(

Cheers,

OK chaps.

Net booked and paid for tomorrow for 18:00-20:00. If there's 5 of us it'll be £16 per head, if not then £13.50. With that in mind until we get confirmation from @MD2812 if you can hold off on payment that'd be great.

@rickjames  I will pay tonight and also bringing chocolate and lucozade.
