Hi all,
Just looking for some advice on the latest New Balance DC 1080 range, in particular the bats themselves.
I've never used their cricket gear in the past, previously favouring likes of G&M and Salix, but I really like some of their designs and have always been impressed by the running products they produce.
I'm considering buying a new bat in the Winter sales to net with over the off-season, anyone own one of these and having any comments? -

I've only heard good things in reviews but would be great to hear some advice from someone using on a regular basis.
Thanks very much,
Tom

As you know NB are just a 'brand' that out sources production of bats, their running shoes/kit has their design input even though that is generically out sourced in the Far East. Might be good to find out who makes their bats in India/Pakistan and who they also make for and take it from there.

Welcome to the forum.
The NB Bats are very good and in the past have been made by fs sondhi .
Who also happen to make similarly shapes bats for slazenger. Which Sports Direct sell at reduced prices.
You may need to ask yourself: I love the branding I will buy that bat or I will be using the wood to hit the ball, perhaps I might buy the same bat with different stickers on and have cash left over to spend on coaching...

Have to say, I recently picked up a v1000 fusion for £49 at SD which has a strikingly similar shape to the NB bats.
-
Thanks, guys. And for the welcome!
I find Sports Direct are great for cut price bats, bought from there in the past!
Will check out the Slazengers, they seemed to go quiet for a few years on the bat front but liking some of their new stuff.
Always sceptical about getting a decent bat for ~£49, you guys think doable?

Yes it's doable, my mate picked up a stunning bat for less than £50, it had the wrong price label on it. They are generally clueless when it comes to cricket.

I knocked in a NB for a lad at our club. It was okay. The middle was decent. A mid middle I'd say. He hit some runs with it despite not being totally convinced by it, but that could have been his batting! Decent bat if not spectacular. I wasn't keen on the shape, pick up or profile to be honest but again that is very personal to me I guess.
And yes - you cannot beat getting a belter for peanuts. Winner.
-
Aaaah interesting. I was thought it was supposed to a fairly low middle, which is more suited to myself really.
Will have to have a hit with one I'd imagine.

Iv got a DC580+ personally it's a cracker and cost sub £100 in a sale. Used it last 2 games of last season and it's a cracker huge middle and lovely pick up. Personally I would recommend them although not sure I would spend £30o odd on the 1080 model when brands like UZI hand pick stunners in all grades

The question i have for you is similar to what buzz asked earlier - do you want a NB stickered bat or a bat shaped to your liking / batting style? if your budget is 200 pounds, there are plenty of quality options out there (out here! :) ) to choose from.
check out www.t-rapta.com; (http://www.t-rapta.com;) their fury bats have a low middle and are crackers! or @Uzi Sports or @ItsJustCricket can fix you up some awesome bats for the same price and they hand pick their collection and are very fussy about the bats they stock.
it might take a while to take it all in, but its worth it buddy :) Welcome to CBUK forum!

Aaaaah brilliant thanks for that. Seems a great price for that bat!
Completely agree on £300 being too much on a cricket bat. £200 is the most I'd ever consider spending on a bat, that's why I tend to go for the end of season sales.
Also very open to the idea of high quality, non-labelled bats, so the more suggestions - the better!
Thanks again, all!

I wouldn't order from SD online but go in to your local store and look. I will put some pics up of my Slazenger. Still knocking it in but feels like a cracker. Personally wouldn't spend 300 on a bat as value can be found if you look around, I love NB as a brand but not sure I would spend over the odds just for the brand.
-
Completely agree, buying bats online is always risky.
Yeah bring on the photos, thanks!
I'm exactly the same, big fan of the brand but a lot of money to fork out, particularly as I've never actually used the cricket stuff myself - so the more people that have please do let me know!

Here we go, in my eyes it's similar to the NB shapes. If you told me they were from the same factory I would not be at all surprised. Enjoy

Looks great, that! Massive middle.
Also, love the throwback to the old Slazenger bats of early 2000s!

Sorry to re open old topic. How did this V1000 bat go in the end? Did you decide it was high quality and just like its NB counterpart? Just asking because SD have had some amazing deals on top grade V1000 versions in recent days - see thread on Ebay bargains...
