Title: 1-2-1 Coaching in Somerset/South west
Post by: Davehugh on October 12, 2016, 01:19:28 PM
Any of my fellow cider drinkers know of any good 1-2-1 cricket coaching in Somerset? I had 5/6 sessions last year with an ex pro and really enjoyed them and was a massive help for my game I doubled my league average from the previous season!  It was always pretty toughto squeeze a session in with him as he was so busy but this year is looking twice as hard!?

Looking to do two a month From December until the season starts if anyone knows of anyone please give me a shout!?

Second that, I'd be very keen for a regular session anywhere near Bath/Trowbridge area (moving to Trowbridge on Saturday!)

Can recommend Damian Forder (dfca.co.uk I think), I've had a few sessions with him at the Glos ground in Bristol if that's near to you, mainly based there but I think he might do other places too?

Where abouts are you based Dave?

I've had coaching with Tom Wright, Ian Blackwell and Ben Wellington at the county ground in Taunton and they were all really good.

I'm based locally to Taunton so the county ground seems the obvious choice just quite like the informal nature of my other coaching sessions and as always with this great game things are expensive so looking for the best option before I commit to anything. A friend that works at the County ground recommend Rich Askew or Andrew Skidmore. I might book a session with Each of them and choose my favourite from there. I'll let you know how it all goes!

I used play against Trull when I played for Mark nice club with a good attitude few good games against them. I'm now at Burnham on sea CC loved Mark as a club poorly run and no ambition or opportunity to train and improve, Burnham are much better nets twice a week two games a weekend if you want etc and excellant  facilities and one of the fastest tracks in the league! Can't complain !

I played against mark a few times. Old trailer as a pavilion. Thought they got bequeathed a load of money and they bought their own ground.

They did but from what I heard they spent unwisely bought a ground withoutchecking if they could get legal access to ground. So now they have ground with nothing on it and no way of legally driving on to it! Shame when I was there we were playing a decent standad of cricket for the size of the village.

I'd definitely recommend Tom Wright as a 1-2-1 coach, I've been coached by and played with him for many years and is a top class coach as well as a player! I can pass his phone number onto anyone if needed... :)

@DorsetDan I'd be keen to get involved at Warminster if you ever fancy it - I won't be able to bowl properly for a while with my knee, but can certainly operate a bowling machine in the interim!

Not a bad find that Dan, extra fiver ph for the bowling machine by the looks of things. Could be a good spot for a potential forum net if enough people are interested.
