Title: A Pink Warner
Post by: Sivlar13 on October 17, 2016, 04:58:28 PM
As it's half term for me, I've popped home for a few days and thought it was very necessary to go and see Gary to see what I've missed since being at work. Well, I had no intention of acquiring a bat but this one ticked all the right boxes so thought I may as well treat myself.

So here it is. My original thoughts of 3lb bats were that they were far too heavy and would feel like lifting up a tree, but this is just not the case. This stick, in the David Warner profile, picks up really well for a 3 pounder and pings like you wouldn't believe. It's a slightly shorter blade which is a massive tick in my book, and is a superb looking laminate. 49mm edges and roughly 70mm spine, it's an absolute monster.

Tried to go all @Chad with the photos, not too shabby but need a better camera.

The thing that puts me off is the weight of it. Does it really pick up that well Sivlar?

Shape looks a bit different to the Warner, slightly lower middle & more wood in the toe. Not a bad thing, i think that this shape is outstanding! Its similar to the Matt Coles H4L i have.

Keep us updated on how it goes

As most umpires would't know what a laminate was, let alone how to identify one, you could be a bit naughty. A toe guard and some fibreglass tape over the edges and nobody would know  ;)

P.S i know the grains are different on the front and back of the bat, but I doubt many are observant enough to spot this

I'm used 2.11 sticks and this doesn't feel far off in terms of pick up, obviously that's the view from someone who uses quite heavy bats anyway and not 2.7 sticks.

I went to see Gary on Friday afternoon and despite me rambling about never buying a bat that was above 2lb 9ozs I've bought one of these monsters! I followed this up on Monday by having a bat custom made by Tony at Hunts County. Would anyone like to see some photo's of the bat's and a bit of a review?

Forum rules dictate these dont exist unless there are pics :)

@JTtaylor145 daft question. Without pictures these bats don't exist!

Edit: @alexhilly1492 beat me to it

As soon as I get home from work I'll post up the pictures. I may have been a bit naughty when I asked Tony to put Hunts County stickers on the blank B&S. I'll put the photo's in the relevant section. It may say Hunts but it's not really a Hunts  ;)

Is the laminate simply glued together with PVC glue?

I think different manufacturers use different glues for their laminates some use wood glue some animal glue I believe
