Title: Idiotic ways of getting injured
Post by: Master Blaster on January 15, 2010, 09:46:49 AM
At training today I tried sweeping a medium pacer. He was swinging it a bit and instead of a gigantic step forward......trying to be inventive I tried sweeping..... "ah this will counter the swing" (I thought I could create new ways of playing the swinging ball lol)  my stupid brain tells me.....no helmet..... I have seam mark on my chin and a bloody aching jaw (it hit my chin and pushed my jaw side ways) in 11 years of cricket it was my first blow to the jaw....I'm very proud Im showing off the swelling to everyone.

What is the dumbest way you have injured yourself?

Cricket wise- waiting to bat and kegged my team mate he then pulled me down and I put my wrist out and he landed on me, badly sprained. Pads and whites off he got put up the order. Previously I had bowled an accidental Beamer at him on the bowling machine at 80mph and he put himself down the batting order coz of the injury and I got put up and scored runs!

I got hit doing this on the bowling machine, but put my helmet on specifically for it!

Accidental beamer! How did you manage that!?

i dropped the speed to 50mph and changed the length and yorked him perfectly decided to crank up the speed to 80 but the auto feeded fed a ball before i could change the length, thus producing a beamer!

Turned the bowling machine to 100mph. turned it up facing the sky. For a laugh we tried to take some really high cathes, bigger than anything gayle can hit !

Caught one on a freak chance, it broke my wrist :|

yours go up to 100mph? I tried keeping to it at 65mph with the red balls with padded inners and gloves and it was hurting my wrist because of the balls. Probably a lack of decent technique

Forgetting to change the rear blanks in my bowling boots on my landing foot back to spikes, running for a ball landing on that heel doing some horrific form of the splits first game of last season and tearing something in my groin.

we did that on 99mph but decided not to catch them, it honestly goes miles. ours went out of our cricket ground (this is over the entire length of it! end to end!) and landed in bowls nextdoor to us!! Luckily no old fogies were in there at the time!
