Title: An Interesting Refurb
Post by: Batbuddy99 on October 24, 2016, 07:31:34 PM
At the end of the season, I noticed an old bat that had been in the clubhouse all year. Being a bat nerd I tapped it up a bit, and it rebounded quite nicely! Therefore I thought let's take it home and give it a light refurb.
However, once the miles of tape was removed, there was a light surprise:

This picture was taken after te screws were removed from these holes. There were also 3 screws up around the handle, which I don't think I have pictures, so I'll show you all the pictures of before I start refurbing I have right now:

Trawling through my images I have found some of the screws up by te handle:

Also have a couple of pictures of the nails themselves:

When you told me about this yesterday, I thought you was referring to small screws out neatly through the edges, not the massive things you've pulled out of the bat here haha, best of luck trying to get it somewhere near usable state

I've got a wood burner if you're looking to get rid of it?
The twine round the handle could be worth saving...

Looks like a salix from the toe shaping

That's a challenge that one! Presume the screws were put in to stop the split going further up the bat....

You don't see that very often ?

The Mongoose just shows a couple of signs of wear and tear, something which comes with use (u know, instead of just buying bats to look at them)!

That's a salix I'm betting my whole bat collection on it.

Bat buddy did you remove any stickers?
 :)

No there were no stickers on it, just a mountain if tape
I did post a topic a few weeks ago to see if anyone could work out the maker from the handle (if there would be any place that could, it would be here), so you could search for that thread for handle/binding shots.
I genuinely don't know what it is, so any guesses could be right
