Title: Jonathan Trott comes home
Post by: WalkingWicket37 on November 25, 2016, 10:51:49 AM
I've just seen on Twitter that Jonathan Trott has gone home to his original sponsors Gunn & Moore.

Ruthless from New Balance? "No more International Cricket, no more sponsorship" but I always think of the Icon (and that Ashes hundred on Debut) when I think of Trott.

Was Trott ruthless moving from GM to NB?

Absolutley, he seemed to suit the bats perfectly.

have to say also, GM bats in the last couple of years have been very good, their customer service is fantastic(my clubmates have returned damaged GM bats and received FOC repairs and  clean up's  from excessive surface cracking also FOC)

I think this is a great signing for GM

I wonder if Gm will make him use one of their standard profile bats or if he will continue to use the Trott profile with GM stickers on them?

Either way his bats are still being made in Nottingham :D

The 1271 was originally designed at GM. Ifs where b3s design guru worked at the time.......

Can't see why GM can't replicate it. Thebplayers editions tend to be there own profiles (hence the Shane Watson players  edition zona being very close to a flare profile)

Fair point, but I believe Trott went to New Balance because there was a family tie there (possibly his Brother?) at the time.

The new Travis Head Player Edition is the same profile too :)

If I remember correctly, one of Trott's close family works for NB, and his signing was a way to help establish the brand.

Also, I think that it was handled really well by both parties - GM wished him luck, which is a bit different to when Root left.

Correct, Kenny Jackson was involved in starting up the NB cricket range ( in SA at least ) and he is Trott's half brother.

Funny how everybody mentions 1271

1271 was part of a batch and only one made and it resides with me.

Streaky did invent the shape whilst at gm.
And Kenny Jackson was a professional player and played in English leagues and is related to him as stated.

So he doesn't use the fabled 1271 shape?

Well kind of but I suspect as mine was only 1 of 5 of the Inital batch I suspect.

1271 was done in his profile for him but there 5 others with numbers as each bat at b3 has it own unique number.

1271 was the one he left behind and I got my grubby mits on.

Funny some guy on eBay had even written 1271 on the bat he was selling....

1271 is in my shed

Player editions will carry Whatever the player is using at the time. We've got a travis head bat ordered and due for delivery soon so I'll be able to tell you for sure @smilley792

I was the mug that bought it. I did however return it for a full refund after speaking with B3

Think the same best comes up on eBay every few months - was that the one that did have CA stickers on plus the shoddy bit of tape on the toe?

Yes. After I received and questioned the seller, he claimed it was a Pakistan players bat. I was never told it had CA stickers on, just that it was meant to. Tape didn't seem to be hiding anything.

I'll be honest, it was huge for its weight. Never seen anything like it. It seemed like a decent bat.

As B3 said they are not sure if they made it and it is definitely not 1271, seller also claimed it is crown willow but I wasn't so sure about that either, I returned it. (I didn't realise that every bat in that profile is not given the same number until i read this thread). Suppose it could have been a genuine trott profile. I will buy one when I get round to it but that is my second failed attempt.

@Tailendfielder I did speak to the seller but passed at the time based on price / grey areas. Did look huge, decent shape and a fair bit of willow. Believe it's passed through a couple of forum hands since (now minus stickers after a refurb) and is on eBay at the moment.

Great to see Trotty back with GM. Sounds weird, and maybe it just coincided with a great run of form but I always think of him in his pomp with the Icon, and those LE softs always looked great.
