Oooh Tymal will have fun on those pitches!
-
Why no stokes in the one squad
-
YJB missing from the T20 squad. Harsh.

Surprised he wasn't asked to 'have a break' for the limited overs part of the series in place of Duckett to be honest.

And what's that in English?
-
Duckett not in either squad..... thought he did OK in Bangla ODI's
-
Duckett pushed out by Hales/Morgan/Root returning after the Bangladesh tour by the looks of things, shame. Must have been between Duckett, Bairstow and Billings for the two spare batting/reserve keeper slots. Would have taken Duckett and Billings personally, YJB isn't as strong in ODIs and those two are serious limited overs players. Not overly surprised YJB didn't make the t20 squad, not his strength and he's never been a regular for England in t20s. England one day squad is looking very settled now though, with the possible exception of Duckett it's clear the selectors know their best squad.
-
Where are either of the Currans' ?
-
Realise we can only pick so many but very disappointed we have not got Duckett back on the horse in the one dayers.
We...England I mean.....either are investing and backing talent or we are not. I don't think there's anyone on here who says the lad does not have the talent....he just needs a run and some technical work...same as most batsmen just starting in international cricket.
I suppose he would either open or bat in the middle...the middle is crowded granted, and Jason Roy has done well and just what we need in the new era of one dayers..
So I guess it was Hales or Duckett maybe it came down to that choice.
-
I think it's more a sign off how shot duckett is mentally, than that they dont believe he should be in the Odis.
Hopefully the kid comes Back strong next season!

Mis typed meant ODI squad.

He's in both

He is... But he shouldn't be. I hope they rotate the players. I'm sure he wants to play but if we are not careful he will be in the knackers yard

You say its not his strength, but he has only been given a handful of chances batting higher than six, and he has tended to win those matches. He is our best all round batsman, and light years ahead of the likes of Hales, Roy, Morgan, Duckett etc.

Probably second best... Root might just top the balance.
But you are right. Bairstow needs some odi game time.

Might, true. In Joe's favour, he has the technique to start against the new ball that Jonny has never had to demonstrate. For YJB, I would say that whilst Root had world class ability, he sometimes wastes it - a couple of impress in this series, he has played shots that probably seemed like a great idea in his head but in the real world. ..
Jonny... When he gets out to a daft shoot, it's because we're eight or nine down. Under pressure, he delivers.
-
its a shame they have left out duckett. would have liked to see him get a long run in the short format stuff.
-
Hopefully for the home series we can line up like this: ☺
One day:
Hales
Roy
Root
Duckett
Jos
Stokes
Ali
Tom Curren
Rashid
Plunkett
Woody
T20
Hales
Roy
Duckett
Jos
Billings
Stokes
Dawson
Rashid
Sam Current
Willey
Mills
For me Joe Root has to stop playing T20. We need to encourage the Billings, Ducketts, Livingstones etc whilst Root can have a good rest..

Cheers mate! Trev did say to expect a call next summer!
-
I think that these squads are pretty tough to argue with.
-
Billings vs Duckett must have been close, as must the temptation to avoid the decision by resting one of the senior multi-format players. They seem to have made a decent call - though I wonder whether Billings might be given a surprise chance to open ahead of Hales when the series comes around.
-
@tate035 you've jettisoned Morgan then?
I think if they were going to get rid then the Bangladesh issue would have been a good opportunity.
Even without him thoigh, those line ups look pretty awesome.
England need to make some decisions soon on how to manage the workloads of Stokes, Ali and Root

Hi Johnny,
No Morgan for me and to be honest I didn't like leaving YJB out of the one day side. If Hales or Roy suffer from then open with Duckett and get YJB in.
I believe Jos can captain both one day and T20 with Stokesy as test captain.. Again in 18 months it may change and to be fair to Stokesy I have him in all 3 teams. Perhaps drop him from T20 and put Tom Curren in? Plenty of batting in the team for a 20 over slog and been impressed with both Currens and there variations when bowling...
For what it's worth I don't think ECB will give the relevant guys a rest from.all formats... They will run them into the ground and then wonder why the people who come in.when injuries occur, just don't perform... IMHO... Lol

I would say they are preparing for the Champions Trophy next year, the players they want to play in that are going to have played all the teams fairly recently in an ODI
