Title: Aus vs NZ
Post by: smilley792 on December 06, 2016, 07:44:12 AM
Game 1 aus won due to smiths massive 160+ although guptil did reply with a 90 ball ton.

Game 2 on now.

Warner with 119
Smith 70 odd
Head 57
And

Mitchell marsh with 76 off 40 smoking 3 sixes in the last over.

Head and marsh may have just squeezed maxwell out the side for abit longer.

I like Jimmy Neesham, if only because he came onto the cricket subreddit awhile ago for a Q&A. He's pretty funny.

And he's batting on after getting one flush on the elbow from Starc. Boy is one tough cookie.

13rpo needed and KW is still knocking it around, think its time both teed off, we're going to fall well short of this anyway

Was surprised you guys put the Aussies in on another flat track... That is a long tail you have.. Where is Corey, Taylor etc??

Yep poor decision to put them in. Taylor is off getting eye surgey and Anderson is injured.

Surprised the aussies dropped john hastings given he's the leading ODI wicket taker of 2016, maybe upset a coach/captain - never know given the way the aussies have been

If Cummins can stay fit he's potentially the best bowler in the world. Shear pace. Swing. Variations. A thinking mans bowler.

Afternoon Felix,

Good points about Cummings but him staying fit is about as likely Alistair Cook playing 1 day cricket again... (Thank God)😊

If you follow Pattinson on social media he got married and most videos seemed to show him on the lash...

Looking like a whitewash. Great knock from warner on this pitch, the only batsmen who's looked good

Warner's ODI career has gone full circle within the space of 2 years. His first 50 matches he averaged a rather ordinary 30 with just 2 hundreds. Since 2015 he's averaging nearly 60 with 9 hundreds. Staggeringly good.

he's a brilliant player. Despite other teams just plonking a hitter at the top of the order sometimes(yes England) these players like Mccullum, warner,de Villiers and previously schewag, gilchrist etc are few and far between

the ones that really are top class I mean......

must be a gift of hand eye co-ordination and self belief.

Used to watch Warner(before he improved in the ODIs) and hope he has one of his good days. His consistency now is amazing. The likes of Sehwag and McCullum underachieved IMO

I presume you can only mean from a statistical point of view. As a fan who pays to watch either would make my day...entertainment is what it's about at the top level  :)

McCullum got New Zealand up and competitive and on the sports pages in NZ-some achievement in a rugby mad Country where cricket has always been second.

Yes on a statistical sense. I'd pay to watch Sehwag and BMac go nuts everyday of the week

New Zealand Weren't Even In The Hunt In This Series . They Have Lost Direction After McCullum's Departure, And Kane Williamson Is Well Below Par At The Minute.

I know there is a T20 international scene where there lots of money to be made but I was slightly surprised Mac called it a day. I didn't see any loss of form or lack of success for him or the team

so a bit surprising.

I could be totally wrong but the legal case somehow took the wind out of him......

NZ have lost the BMac spark in all their play. They went hard and let their cricket do the talking when BMac was skip. They seem to have fallen into Williamson's mindset of being methodical and have lost that certain something that BMac gave them.

I think Brendon McCullum's personality refelcted in his captaincy.
He made impulsive (sometimes quirky) field changes and never gave up until the last ball was bowled. This attitude rubbed off on the rest of the team, but the spark has sadly gone out since his retirement.

I don't think Williamson is captain material to be honest

I seen some stats they put up during the match and Warner and Smith have scored 42 centuries between them in all formats (21 each) in the last 3 years. The next closest Aussie I think had maybe 6

So in the next Ashes series we simply get both of these out and the rest will crumble  :D

Ah, the Aussies have talent. Just for done selection issues.
