I found this old ss out the front of someones house in north sydney a couple of months back and i did a lil bit of a refurb on the face with sandpaper and oil. The one thing that hasnt gone so good is the toe. It must have been dry for a lot of years because ive been using it and chips of wood have been breaking away. What do you guys suggest i do to stop it breaking away any further?

Gorilla glue and two rubber toe guards, one on the face, will give it some protection in the short term. Longer term, I think its just old mate...

To firm up an old toe I use a hypodermic needle and syringe to inject glue at regular intervals into the toe. It works a treat.
