Can the community here lend any tips and constructive criticism my way, my technique I guess is fairly average, like to use my feet against the spin and strong with the reverse sweep. However, my orthodox shots are lacking, I struggle to drive the pacers and struggle to score off of them too. Any help would be great <3
First post lads, don't be too harsh ;)

From the angle the video is taken, it is difficult to say. Front on video is best to gauge technique. However, from what I can make from the video, you seem to have decent technique, almost like ABD :) style, nothing glaring I could find, apart from hands which seem to be a little too high in stance, aka bairstow style. Not that I am much of an expert in technique either, just my 2 cents. :)

Ok, what do you think of my mate then. It's shocking, but I can't put my finger on what he does wrong. I think he doesn't move towards the ball, it's definitely unappealing ahahaha.
Here's a vid of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHKfYrerLxU&t=29s (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHKfYrerLxU&t=29s) (Side on) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZidgLVis5s (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZidgLVis5s) (Rear)

Not watched your friend yet but your trigger is to plant your front foot, i can only assume that you struggle with pace on your legs and the short body line ball. My thinking is because of your plant, you're playing around your front pad, and as youve planted you're pressing forward and dont get back quick enough?

I think a forward press is good, but within reason.
My first movement is always a little step forward and then I can rock back if need be. Obviously I don't commit everything forward otherwise anything short or full and straight would have me in trouble.

I would look at your grip on the bat as a starting point and then getting your weight into your toes in your stance.
Your forward press against the spinner works for you but the back and across to the pace bowlers gets you into knots, you would be better off standing stiller.
Still lots good though.
Your mate could do with an hour or twos formal coaching

ahahahahah is he beyond your help? Ok, so would you suggest to completely scrap the trigger against pace? I want to keep it, but if it isn't working then it'll go, any suggestions to improve on it?

Yeah dont move, you'll soon get used to it!

With your mate, I think just having the basics shown to him would be better than me trying to explain in words on a forum half the world away. So yes beyond my help because he is too far away!
You have to ask yourself why you want the trigger. If you have a good reason for it (like it stops you backing away) then, fine, but you need to have finished moving before the bowler gets to his delivery stride so you aren't moving at the point of release.
This will help you and your mate with your grip and diamond...
