Being in Aus, dont get to see Butterfly willow all that often.
So after seeing a number of reviews and reading topics on this very forum, i decided to get a couple made in India
They arrived today so haven't had a chance to do much with them apart from tap a few balls up.
Im wanting to know what is everyone's opinion of these 2 as well as any other experiences in how to prepare these bats and how to get the best out of them

Both look good to me. They tend to be a bit harder so may need more knocking in. A heavier mallet seems to help too.
If I was being ultra critical I would prefer the one on the right to have been handled at the other end. They should perform as well as any other bats you have had. What manufacturer did they come from?

yeah cant help which end they handled i just asked for 2 butterfly willow bats at 2lb 8. they came in a touch heavier at 2lb 9 but pick up is great and i use 2.10 anyway.
Im not sure of the forum rules in regards to naming manufactures but will be happy to name them once that is all clear

Look lovely.
I'm a big fan of butterfly willow, had a few in the past. maybe to do with the press, but I've not knocked a butterfly willow bat in yet. Just headed out to the middle and smashed some bombs.
I like the leftnone due to majority being heartwood.

Butterfly can be heaver and is certainly harder it used to be popular years ago but lost its appeal it's not graded by many manufactures.
Knock in it as normal but for a little longer
It should eventually play the same as most other willow.

Another question, will the stains come out more with and oil? i know the heartwood will become bolder but never oiled stains like these before

Yes once oiled the stain will become more visually prominent

Yeah, I find oil can often bring out the stains more. Lovely looking bats, they from SS?

no they arent from SS

I don't mind butterfly but I hate too-much heartwood - for me, 25% of a bat width being heartwood on the outside edge or less is OK.
