so stokes has put himself in the ipl auction. Along with Roy Morgan and hales.
Reckon stokes will get signed and for decent cash,
Hales will but won't play,
Morgan not
And Roy will depends on his odi performances this serious.
Billings, buttler already with contracts.

Probably end up at Mumbai as they've already cut Corey Anderson. Factoring in Malinga(is he still playing?) Stokes could bag $1m-$1.5m

As a Durham fan who probably wouldn't see much of him anyway I can't fault him. He's probably one of the most sought after cricketers in the world right now and deserves an IPL contract. He should get pretty much the full season in with the Champions Trophy not starting until the start of June so the ECB wouldn't have any reason to restrict him which is what has put some IPL franchises off getting English players in the past. They could still possibly try and restrict him to keep him rested but he wouldn't be happy with that at all.

$1M is a lot for someone who has the potential but not yet seen big success in t20 yet.
Also remember, the brand and fan following plays a big role when it comes to salaries. I doubt stokes has the built that yet in India.

Anderson and broad will be jealous about it like they've always been.
Nothing wrong with chasing the money given a career is so limited

Jimmy and Broad put country first

I think your referring to the press stories regarding KP v Broad and Anderson that KP was picked for the IPL and the other two were not-resulting in money envy.....allegedly . I not sure realistically Jimmy would of ever played IPL he doesn't have a good record in one day cricket at all, and hasn't played for ages(in one days). broad had more of a chance but again no one day cricket for England for yonks, I think he played in our T20 WC side but that was 2010.
Interesting thou now it appears the ECB have soften their stance on contracted England players going and now the barriers for stokes, butler and others have been taken away.
Crick freak is right Stokes does not have a profile .....but if he gets picked and plays he could soon get one.
Money talks of course and all the players want to play and be better T20 players....butler might be a good example of that.

There are 3 points to an "ideal" T20 player:
- Someone who can bowl to a decent quality at 85mph+
- Aggressive quality batsman
- Gun fielder who can take brilliant catches.
You can argue that Stokes still has points to prove at T20 International level, but IPL level is not as high. Therefore he would be an ideal addition to ANY IPL team and I suspect he will be in demand! Should boost his bank account handsomely! ;)

Its a no brainier for him and the IPL teams... in terms of money then either way he has to start somewhere and even if he doesn't quite get the biggest bucks this time he will be a sensation, get a big following and then rake it in next year...surely he is the closest thing in modern day cricket to the ultimate alrounder not in terms of format of skill.

Jimmy and Broad put country first
Not true. they just didnt get the asking salary.

I though the fact they were crap at T20 so unlikely to get sold in the auction had something to do with it... :-[

Yep... Lots have pulled out of auction in past - Clarke, Amla etc some of the big names

Expect Stokes to get a huge price.
Absolute gun

Don't think teams are willing to splash the big money any more. Doubt he'll go for more than 1m particularly given corey anderson is also in the auction and 3 of the teams don't need an allrounder.
Gone are the days where IPL teams stock up on players and keep them on the bench.

As predicted
Stokes sold to Pune Super Giants for 1.7 Million Pounds!!!

I think stokes has clearance to miss the ireland one day games at home to play the whole ipl whereas morgan will get recalled back if he gets picked for an ipl team
If correct thats good thinking from the ecb regarding Ben

I get that Stokes is an all rounder.
But how is he worth 14 times Roy?
-
Supply and demand.

Roy will be a bench warmer whereas Stokes will be playing most games. Also with Dre Russ banned there isn't many other genuine allrounders that can smash the ball out the park, bowl late 80's and be an absolute gun in the field.

All rounders usually go a for a lot more than specialists in the IPL. not surprised by his price
