Dear CBFers, any recommendations on who makes better batting pads among GN/Kook in general across the range. Not really looking for 90 mph type/bulky protection but decent protection, wrap around well, non bulky, comfortable and light pads..

Gray Nicolls hands down. Look sorts unless top top end are pretty poor in my opinion
-
Gray Nicolls are better.

Used GN Legends last season and Kook Recoil 900s for a couple of seasons prior to that. Both provide good protection but overall the GNs are miles better for comfort, materials and quality for me.

This years kooks look superb and have minimal branding on pretty much all the price ranges. Also kook have longer straps which may or may not be good for you. Gray Nicolls pad strap lengths are stupidly short which is a huge negative for me
-
My experience is that Kook pads have the straps about double the length they should be, and for the top versions they have a habit of having a wider lead leg pad which forces you to have the straps on the wrong way round. :o
May have changed as I haven't bought some for a few years. The GNs I had were far better.

I really struggled with GN's sizing, the standard men's coming up small and I'm only 5'11" although the quality is very good. The Kook Pro's I have are some of the best fitting pads I've ever had.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. So it looks like GN it is for most. Also, if they run slightly smaller with smaller straps, it works for me as I find standard mens a touch bigger for my legs.

I have GN 1000LE pads and Kookaburra 1887 Players pads. The GN's seem more flexible but they have had 5 years of use vs 2 years with the Kooks. I also use the GN's in the nets to preserve my Kook pads.
The Kook pads are taller than the GN pads as the top flap overlaps with my thigh pads, whereas the GN's leave a tiny gap which I've been hit in multiple times. Straps are roughly the same on them both. Pretection feels similar on both but the Kooks are newer so I feel less in them.
I'm in team Kookaburra as they look a lot classier to me (My kooks are a whiteout version).
