Post by: t2ylo on January 17, 2017, 08:22:47 PM
Looking to get some RS (Robinson Sports) gloves from The Cricket Shed - do any of you guys have any experience with them?

Hmm, never heard of them but the Robinsons plain softs are rather tasty! As are some of the mysterious 'made in Kent' plain bats, I wonder exactly where in Kent...

The softs are superb I have a pair of the gloves already and wanted to find some more in the hope I can break my matching bat/gloves/pads OCD
I bet someone on here knows exactly where in Kent ;-)

I was thinking more the traditional RS gloves in all white - surely a CBF bulk buy discount  ;)

I have done business with cricket shed and they are pretty good. I bought gloves and pads from them in the past. They used to run business under different name in the past.

The Cricket Shed are decent. I've bought pads and gloves from them previously and they were good quality, prompt delivery etc. I think they used to be called SQ Sports.

I've brought from these guys too, the BAS White/Silver gloves. Seem like a decent company, prompt/secure delivery and good comms.

Ps - The gloves are fantastic  :D

His prices are extremely good - far too good to resist!

Are the plain bats from kent made by H4L?

Shezy is the guy who runs it, nice bloke and has a lot of 'exclusive' kit - a lot of the guys in the Essex leagues buy from him and he specialises in SF gear mostly.

I'm popping over to see him at the weekend, the RS Robinson pads are all gone now which is annoying.  I've always thought of The Cricket Shed as a local version of Online Stockist  :o

We had atleast 20 pairs of RS batting gloves last season for the team kits and they are all very very good.

Keeping gloves we got, general feedback was needed more padding as the hands hurt when collecting the delivery. Which was sent back to RS and I know they adjusted their designs after that although we didn't get to try the new improved versions.

Bats, either under the RS brand or RS bat sold as other brands were all exceptional, i think we had atleast 10 in circulation last year, my match bat is RS as well. Shapes and pickup etc depends on profiles and what brands want what but what is consistent and really good is the pressing. Their pressing is right up there with some of the best bats i have had/tried, their willow is not over dried unlike some other bats from India, all their grades play well and in terms of pricing they are very well placed, oh btw their G1's actually look like a G1 so when you get one you don't question if this was a G2 sold as G1...

Yes I am a fan of RS :)

@DorsetDan I prefer pads on the smaller side too. So looking at the small men's pads, Regular gloves. Reckon that's about right ?

RS gloves are indian mens size, so unless made specifically for the UK they are smallish on the hands

I would say yes, GN small mens and RS normal mens should be about the same. The RS I had were only a touch too big for me and I now use GN Youth size which are pretty snug. GN normal mens were like wearing flippers for me!
Balls. At least that's stopped me spending money, cheers Dan.

With regards to RS gears, I really don't think they can be beaten on quality (regardless of the price!) - the softs are as good as anything I've used.

On a side note, just been having a flick over the Cricket Shed website. Something seems familiar...

Good spot that!

Oh my word, Raw Cricket link is going to a different company  :o

Plenty of people out there using Robinsons as a manufacturer, can't knock them for quality and service as a supplier. It does make me chuckle when Raw market themselves as game changing and innovative, i haven't ever seen anything but stock RS items rebadged as their own. I see plenty of it up close as they are local to us.

Exactly, I'll be the first to admit all the previous Neon softs came from there - can't knock it!

It's comical isn't it, I cringe every time they post anything at the moment - personal favourite lately was a claim that their bats were 'better than anything else on the market'

So better than all the other RS bats then... lol

Defo agree regarding RS - have used their bats and gloves and both were top notch quality wise. Most impressive was their finishing, where other Asian brands sometimes lack, RS certainly pay attention to detail!

They did, and possibly still do get some made there, but not all RAW bats are UK made having seen plenty now.

Don't RAW also sponsor some current first class county players?

Arrived really quickly - vfm is stunning and gloves are decent size (not too small)
No complaints at all. Well he put in about 20 flyers & business cards but imagine that was an accident.
Big thumbs up - will post photos soon

In a strange twist of fate I have also bought a youth bundle from Raw Cricket for No 2 son.
Very impressed with quality of kit & got 10% off too.
Softs one of the best I've seen for juniors and the bat goes under the mallet, has a great profile but really is pretty fugly

With regards to the origins of their bats - someone (I'm presuming a forumite!) actually called them out on it on FB a few weeks back (which naturally got deleted lol). Went along the lines of the usual "we have the best bats available on the market today", the reply was "better than hunts?" to which they admitted all the blades were now imported (presume RS) - not knocking RS bats as I had a few samples previously and they were very nice, but the prices are a joke compared to what you can get elsewhere (think the cricket shed sells the top grade for about 200? 300+ on raw!) - bearing in mind they only cost about 130 with all the import duty inc...  :(

@t2ylo - not sure if you're aware, but the junior bundle bat is Kashmir (unless you paid for the upgrade). Might wanna watch out if your lad is gunna be using hard balls!

Yes it's Kashmir willow - he's a junior bat forum fan who often shouts "come and see the grains in this one!!!"
So naturally he has a match bat (Jedi), last years match bat (GM) and Raw one for fun
In truth it taps up well under the mallet
Thanks for heads up @neoncricket
