Anyone know what wood a traditional bat mallet is made from
-
The very best would be oak.
-
So the standard bat mallets are made of Oak?
Any luck yesterday by the way?
-
Rather than starting a new thread thought I'd post a question in here relating to this topic.
What is the Millichamp mallet made from? I assume it's the same as the one Julian Millichamp uses.

do they sell these down Taunton??...going down today if they are worth a dabble!
-
If they do these ones pick me one up mate and will sort it out
-
will do mate :) i thought u were my official bat knocker in anyway ???
-
are they the ones that sound like a creaming cat on a good bit of wood hence the brand name screaming cat ?
-
Well you can it free for me then as broke mine knocking bats in this year and spent two hours on that scat before you got all the benifits
-
They are not sold in Taunton, the best I know for are the Puma/M&H style ones, I have about 6/7 here, I'll bring some for Tom et al.
-
Nice one michael....need a few other things but ill drop u a line about them :)
-
If you have a few there you could put one to one side for me and send it with the bats in a couple of weeks if possible mike as heard these are easier to knock bats in with?
-
I keep looking for a lignum vitae mallet, what are the M&H ones made from?
-
The lignum vitae is very heavy and in the wrong hands will simply produce a crack each time you hit the bat, not one for the amateur.
No one sells these, you can get one made but not cheap. I did use one and also use a cobblers hammer but the skill level required is high and one mistake can ruin a bat.
-
So what are the benifits of these millichamp mallets compared to a normal one
-
The M&H ones are just a good design and well made, you can find them with many brands labels on them, Mitre and GN are 2 others who uses them.
-
So better than a normal wood mallet and if so can you include one in the package in a few weeks? With the refurbs and the small bat for the baby
-
Will do.

Many thanks mike
