Just been sent a photo from Matt at Hunts of a profile he's been working on. Weight should be around 2lb 9oz.
What do you guys think?

Why's the toe guard on before it's been finished?
Profile is nice though.

Profile looks lovely mate. Laver-esque!

Fit it before after shaping the bat, trim it then sand the whole bat and it leave a much better finish and a neater, more professional look than if it was applied afterwards

All the weight in the right place like the shape and the high middle looks big for 2lb 9 ounce.
-
It looks really good. It will have a good pick up with middle being mid to high.

Handle has to be bound yet... depends how they secure the bat for binding

Id just assume you'd use a cradle type tailstock when binding bats already with a toe-guard on.

I understand that you'd do the final sand once the toe guard and binding was on to tidy things up. But the bat looks like it's still on the shaping bench - not saying it's the wrong way to go about things, but I can't recall seeing it done like this before. Perhaps there's another advantage to doing so?

Yeah thats a dead centre and looks like the toeguard goes on before OR after. Not how id do it but hey i dont make bats! Yet...

Yes it is. They say they drill out nearly all of their bats now (which might explain the size). They've never had any problems. It does though have a distinctive sound.
-
Do they perform good with the hole all the way inside? Anyone has any insights as to which is better - reducing weight by the internal hole versus concaving on the back of the bat

Tony was talking to me about this last week. He said, but it's just a theory that cannot be proved, he thinks the hole in the middle results in better performance as there's a cushion of air rather than just solid willow behind the ball.

I know Callen (in oz) make bats with a drilled out hole just like this . Seems a decent weight saving measure , not sure why more batmakers don't offer this .
