Anyone left at kookaburra?

Off the top of my head they have:
Jos Butler, Keaton Jennings, Usman Khawaja & Peter Hanscomb

Not a bad hutch of young talent still on the books

Kooka Kooked  :D

Too much New Balance stickers in world cricket today, seems like all western teams getting sponsored by them.... Root/Stokes/Smith/Wade/Maddinson/Miller/Santner/Munro/Steyn/Boult etc

I think this could be a bit of a phase in my view, kinda reminds me of Woodworm around 10 years ago.

There are 4.1 billion differences between new balance and woodworm though.......

If they choose to stay, they will stay.

I think players going to New Balance will be a phase something from Kookaburra, Gray Nics etc will soon draw many players back. The market challengers tend to get to the top then the fellow brands find something better. Look what happened to Spartan and Slazenger they at one point had quite a few big players and are now slowly dropping off and not having as many big names.

I think @smilley792 's point is though that NB seem to have far more cash reserves than any of these other challengers (Spartan, Slaz etc.) unless they decide that cricket is no longer profitable, they have enough resources to make sure they continue to attract top players for as long as they want.

Did Spartan have a lot of big names? I honestly can't remember seeing many of them.

Didn't they sign a couple of high profile players then pretty much vanish after that?
I guess they still have some presence with Dohni, KP(?), Drug Ban Russ, World Boss & Joe Burns

Financially they should be fine however we are seeing a reduction of withdrawal of big brands in cricket, Adidas considered it a few years ago and Nike are very limited in their production of kit. When both Adidas and Nike both first entered the sport they went crazy and sponsored a lot of players and then dropped of afterwards.

True and that would have perhaps been a fairer comparison (especially with Nike) than the earlier comparison to Spartan etc. and is why I said "unless they decide that cricket is no longer profitable", let's face it they're not in it for the love of the game! You could argue that adidas fancy getting a bit of the pie back though, doubt Bairstow would have come cheap and if his range launches well I'd expect them to go after some more big names soon.

Boult gets a mention but Gary Ballance doesn't?  How the mighty are fallen! :)

The intention of using Spartan was the craze of them getting loads of big players and many moving on (however they seem to be building back up with KP etc). Also for a while Adidas had a lot of players and many left but I also agree they are obviously trying again with Bairstow but for a while they were looking like they would drop out, I think Jimmy Anderson and the Vector was the revival

Adidas have a lot of primising young players on their books
Liam Livingston, both currants, Craig Miles and a good product range for serious and recreational cricketers

I was referring to Adidas before these young players came about

Sure - but unlike, Nike who've disappeared off a cliff, Adidas have quietly plugged away and have the best offering of the global sports brands.

I think Adidas loosing the ECB kit contract will hurt their brand image within cricket with the lack of a global presence. I see they're pumping loads into the marketing surrounding the Surrey CCC deal
