Cricket Australia reports that Nic Maddinson will be taking an indefinite break from cricket with no set return date due to personal reasons...

I wasn't be surprised if he is having some mental issues.

Thrown into test squad out of blue, things did not go well.
Dropped and not even in squads after.
Then struggled in the bbl on his return. Dude must have had the hardest summer in cricket history. Failure after failure.


Hopefully he clears his head and returns soon. And builds his way back to the top.

I think this is a reminder to selectors not to pick young guys just on past , early  glimpses of talent and potential , when they are in poor form at time of selection . It can set them up for high hopes and crushing failures . If picking a young bloke at least do it when they are scoring runs/taking wickets for fun.
