Guys,
Someone I know has offered me a Kook Kahuna, they don't know the age, but it looks like it was from just after they stopped the graphites.
The thing is it is badged up as 'Limited Edition' and I can't seem to find anything on google to suggest Kook used that term in grading, so thought I would ask the best on-line cricket kit encyclopaedia I know - is it likely to be real or a fake?

Get some pictures of it would be my advice. There are plenty on here who would be able to help you from those. Difficult without seeing the bat itself

There should be an 'E' stamp and a number stamp 11,12,13 etc on each shoulder of the bat

Thanks for your comments mate. I would say the sticker style looks too old to be 2012
I have asked them to check, but their text said 2 and a J, so could be 2002 (the year Kahuna first came out?) but not sure what J signifies if E is England.
Putting the stamps to one side for now, do you know if they did an LE Kahuna? Can any of the sponsors who stock Kooks help @Uzi Sports @VKS @Vitas Cricket

That is 100% not from 2012. 2012 wasn't to dissimilar to now
Looks more like a 2006-8 style to me give or take.
Best bet is to find pictures of Ricky ponting batting

Get a picture of the stickers on the binding near the top of the handle, should tell you all you need to know, including model and grade, year, original country marketed in etc.

It was mid to early noughties model. I had one.
I was sponsored by Kook at the time. The limited edition replaced the twister and warrior as the top models in aus and U.K respectively

My Kahuna of a similar vintage has a 6 on one shoulder and L on the other of that's any help @Chalkie, 2/J sounds similar enough? Would be from about 04-06 I think, bought mine about 05 and these stickers were either one before or after if I remember right. Side profile shot should tell you a lot if that's available? Fakes usually seemed to be terrible in those days, so would likely be a different profile if it wasn't legit.

Thanks Jake, any idea when they started doing this, as this one apparently doesn't have a sticker on the binding, but does have UK written in sharpie.

I'm not sure when they started doing it to be honest, and they do peel/fall off fairly readily.
As stated above, fakes from that era were notoriously poor, so i'd imagine the quality of the stickers alone (based on their appearance in the photos) is enough to say conclusively that it is a genuine Kookaburra. Thats not to rule out an unscrupulous individual adding the limited edition sticker that they removed from a more expensive Kookaburra bat.

This could be an le I played with a lad who had a similar aged kookaburra diablo I think that only had 5/6 grains but they were perfectly straight blemish free and was a top grade kookaburra

I'm pretty sure that's genuine. Think 2004/05. One of those was the first bat I bought with my own money.
