Guys,
I like some bats in the market but they come with round handles while I like oval handles. I am wondering if I buy the bat and have it rehandled with oval handle with some local merchant, will that handle contact be as good as the original manufacturers one? In general, I dont like to mess anything with what the original manufacturer had as I doubt the quality of the resulting changed product, but want to know what are your thoughts on this?
Particularly, would the new handle be as good as the original manufacturers one - I can get good quality handle selected for replacement but asking about the contact of new handle with bat - if that would be as good as the original?

Just build the handle up at the bottom and turn in to an oval

Just build the handle up at the bottom and turn in to an oval
Tried adding some cut rubber strips on the side at the bottom to make it feel oval, but just doesnt feel so good as a oval handle..Maybe need to explore if there is better way...Can you suggest more details on "Just build the handle up at the bottom" part
thanks!

Some batmakers do a service of handle adjustment and can make it oval. I have used Gray Nicolls in the past and they done a good job at that.

I've used cotton tape . What I do is take binding off then build up to suit then re bind

Thanks all..I will try the different methods suggested here or on the other threads and see if I can get one that works fine..If I can get it done without new handle, that would be best..

Rehandling a bat may be as good as the original but it rarely gives the same feel or pickup as the original handle

My preference for handle shape has really changed since using a Blank Bats B-oz. Really loved the pronounced oval handle.

I started using a Blank Bats replica of the M&H Distinction recently and although I loved the middle position, the thick oval top hand and thin round bottom hand was almost a complete reversal of what I had become accustomed to with the B-oz. So I removed the binding, sanded it down at the top hand and built up the bottom hand with elastoplast (a few vertical strips at the front and back and then rebinding with elastoplast) and - voila - perfect. It's a really simple job and now the bat handle is 'customised'.
Now knowing this, I'll probably do it with all my future bats. I just have to consider pick up and ping knowing that the handle shape and size can be easily adjusted.

Thanks for sharing, great to know! And mine is not as much work as I just need to get bottom part oval..Will give it a go this week..

Yes, the unknown pickup with the new handle is another concern..Based on all responses here, rehandling has to be last option, or doesn't seem to be needed if oval shape is all that is needed..

Had my ss 7000 rehandled by onhand sports, don't know who they use to do the job.
it came back with a larger more oval handle and now only needs one grip and to me feels better.
