That's the only explanation I can think of for grading this a 606....picked it up on eBay from the bargains thread, taps up magnificently. Wasn't too sure about the whole short blade thing, but I might be a convert!

Looks good to me. A really great find. Well done.

Grains are quite unevenly spaced. Regardless of heartwood this is probably too much unevenness to be an 808
-
Had a Sigma 808 which is still going strong with a mate, a third heart wood but with less and more evenly spaced straighter grains. Haven't looked recently but the GM website used to explain grading very well.

All GMs are and will forever be fantastic.

The angle of the first picture obviously distorts things as in the first pic there are at least 2 that appear very narrow compared to the rest of the wider grain spacing.
-
should have bought it of a forum sponsor - how dare you buy of ebay!
In all seriousness Looks like a nice bat - lovely little bargain

DW Randall centenary test 1977 174 was my first exposure to GM had a soft spot ever since.

Bit of spec, bit of heartwood, not sure if that's small pin knots or dirt, can make the case for it being a grade above but it's not always black/white and the likely grade thousands of clefts at a time.

That Icon is something else and my current match bat, but early impressions of this Mana are very very good!
