Had a net last night on a machine with our pro for this year and have obviously taken his comments on board but any input from anyone on here would be greatly appreciated too

Here it it.
Thanks

@Buzz your opinion is always very sought after in these situations

Only issue I saw was pushing at the good length balls outside off stump. A lot of players have this issue early in their innings. When the balls was up there, you played some lovely drives very straight head over the ball. My favourite shot was the one you whipped off middle and leg, you played a couple of those shots really well. You look a good bat to me.
-
As Hanif says I think you look like a good bat and there's not a lot wrong at all. I would stick with what you're doing.
If I was being hyper critical I'd say check your back lift, the toe of your bat should point to first slip rather than fine leg, this will help you bring the bat down straighter.
-
Pointing your left elbow towards the bowler should straighten up your back lift.
-
Thanks for the input lads.
I had noticed the. Backlift myself when I watched it back so I will address that. 8 think maybe I was just rushing and not checking it.
Does anyway else think my feet were a little lazy or am I being too critical. Feel like I was getting abit caught infront to the slightly straighter ones and having to play round my front pad?

Could also just because I was on a machine and knew round about where it was going to be so kept pressing forward instead of waiting?
-
Thanks for the input guys I'll try and put it into practice when I next go and film it again

I noticed alot of bottom hand when driving through covers, where the ball ends up and where the bat ends are completely different, could also be due to right hip rotation as well, keep the back foot still if you can. At 2:18 is an example of this, bat pointing back down the track.

Seeing as I have been tagged twice!
This is what I suggested to @king pair earlier via pm
great to see someone who looks a decent player.
My thoughts/tips are threefold.
1. Stance:
You are very side on, which isn't bad, but you may be more comfortable opening up just a little but. This will benefit you knowing what to leave outside the off side, it may also make you less ridged.
2. Back lift:
Your backlift is tucking your bat behind you a little, this stops your bat coming through straight on occasion. Try to push your bat back towards the off stump rather than leg stump.
Opening your stance may help with this too.
3: Back foot:
When you play your attacking shots your back foot goes for a bit of a walk. I did a kitchen coaching session on that. Your timing will improve if you can hold your shape better.
Fact is you look still and calm at the crease and can clearly hold a bat, by slightly opening your stance (feet at 11 or 11:30 if that makes sense!) it will help relax you and I think free you up a bit.
-
You absolutely crunched some of those balls, one thing I noticed was you were playing the ball at the same time as you were moving you're feet.
Not a bad thing, but I've always been told to plant the front foot, load you're leading shoulder, and play you're shot with you're shoulder and head/neck inline
I may be wrong, but hey it's my 2 cents ;)
-
Right I've been again tonight. Tried to open myself up a little more and fix my backlift. I was also trying to stay stiller and hold my shape more rather than the walking and swivelling that @Buzz mentioned.
I've watched it and I feel the backlift looks a lot better but I'm still not still enough through the shots. Ignore my mid video paddy too please.
Thoughts are welcomed again, is this better? Worse?

There is another one here too that's just my last round having a little bit of fun, very ugly at times but some half decent shots.

Lots of good points:
Timing
Head over the balls you nail
Hand eye coordination
Few things to work on:
Front foot tends to go forward down the pitch regardless of pitch, shows up when you find yourself reaching outside off for those drives.
Sometimes a lack of foot movement, shows up when you just use yours arms to find the ball outside off.
Sometimes working around the front pad. Looks great, and I think you time the legside shots very well, but if you miss one of those whips, you're plumb.
I think the footwork issues are linked to the machine, like you say, if you know vaguely where the ball will be, you lazily just plant expecting the cover drive.
My favourite thing? It's always nice to find someone willing/knowing when to leave!
Lots of positives though. Keep working.
-
Thanks mate. Will bare all that in mind. Like I said I do know the front foot is planting and I do think that's a machine thing but we will find out next Friday when i net with bowlers
-
The first question is what do you think...!
-
I think it was a scratchy net. I was a little lazy at times but I think that the backlift has helped A LOT, the open stance still feels a little unnatural but I think it'll be beneficial in the long run.
Your thoughts?
-
You went a little more open than I was expecting, about halfway between the two would work.
Your bat is still coming down in a bit of an arc, so when you are at home, practice bringing your bat down straight.
Other than that you are looking good, your timing is excellent.
-
Thanks mate really appreciate the advice.

Thanks Dan, there are four relevant videos, I sent these to King Pair before...

Thanks dan.
I have been creating that diamond for a while now but looking back at the video it appears that I have lost that due to the other things I was working on. I've actually made some notes in my phone that I can read before I met to make sure I'm covering everything

Only thing I see is the backlift goes against the logic of AB De Villiers who says the bat shouldn't be pointing anywhere near the leg side behind the back, which limits a lot of things.
