Random question but given the experts we have here, maybe someone could help?

A friend of mines wants to advertise his business by placing a sticker on the back of a few current Pro players. However, his unaware of the process behind this. I assume he would need some form of approval from the ICC? Does anyone have any information regarding the process?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are size guidelines for the sponsorship sticker. Look  in the icc playing rules or something

-
ICC regs only matter if they're playing International cricket. What level are we talking?

For English Cricket, ECB regulations apply (assuming they're not contracted to Team England, in which case their agent should be handling this). Under ECB regs you don't need to ask for permission - but they can't conflict with headline Tournament sponsors (Royal London etc), Broadcasters or be a betting company.

Cheers Buzz, found it. There is a paragraph about the approval process under that section on their website. Thank you very much.

 thanks Tom
So his looking to sponsor to pros. One is a county pro and another is an international one.

So judging by what you have said, for the county pro he wont need permission?

-
Correct. For the international player, he'll need permission from the ICC and will need to check with their local cricket board also (I.E if England player, with the ECB).

-
The process is really just about ensuring it doesn't clash with any existing sponsorships in place at a team/international/competition level.

Excellent, thanks Tom. Appreciate the help.

				So an update on this...

 My friend got some quotes...

Established Essex batsmen requested £3,000 for season long sponsorship
Established Northants batsmen requested £2,000 for season long sponsorship

Was just wondering if these are the ball part figures established county players will ask for?
-
The only ones I know about, were players that did it for friends businesses and didn't ask for anything in return.

And depends what he will get for his money! Will he see a return on his 5k?
-
				fair enough.
good point, not sure what his expecting
but I think his love and passion for cricket is what is making him do it.
-
Get him to sponsor his local club , he will gain the respect & loyalty of all club members , local business , loyal local following , $100 for hitting the advertising sign on the full is always well received , signage will be erected & accepted easily

That's pretty comical for just the small sticker IMO, no chance he'll see any return on it - may as well get a few advertising boards at the club or something?

When I was looking at sponsoring a few of the WCCC players previously I was getting quotes around that mark for full kit sponsorship plus extras...

Fair point. The amount did see rather high. Especially given what benefits it may bring.

thats a ridiculous amount for what your friend would get - i mean for a start unless the players are on TV regularly, no one is going to see it as the CC is attended by 1 man and his dog these days  ;)

as a few have said he is better off sponsoring a club - for example our club charge £1500 for our Gold Sponsorship Package and with that you get the works - full kit, advertising board, website link, twitter etc...
