Title: Duffle chat & public transport
Post by: richthekeeper on March 14, 2017, 12:27:12 PM
Alright fellas, looking for a new duffle. Now that I'm in that London I need a bag that will fit in the boot of the missus' small car (1 series coupe) but that I can also carry on public transport to games if I need to. The complication being I'm a keeper so I need to carry keeping gear every week.

How do other public transport users cope? Do you bring two bags, one for gear and one for clothes/towel etc?

What do you recommend?

I used the Kookaburra KD5000 duffle last season on the tube, plenty of room for all my kit and clothing although I'm not a keeper (I still think there would've easily been room for keeping pads/gloves though!)

Supernova does fine for me carrying shower gear/bits etc, probably annoys some people on the commute in the evening for nets but GAF

The Kookaburra Pro D1 duffle is fantastic and can definitely carry keepers kit as I can carry 3 pairs of gloves, Aero P1 thigh pads, a helmet in the main section with plenty of spare space so should be able to get keepers kit in the main section

I thought this was going to be a thread about striking up conversation with people you saw taking their duffle bags on public transport.
I feel strangely let down... :-[

I have the Ton one, which is great but it's really only the main compartment, the side pockets are no real use. I also have the red ink one which is a much better lay out but doesn't seem to be made of as durable material.

Which duffel bags a good layout with decent pockets for repair kits, bat caves etc?

I am a keeper and i have the Kookaburra Pro Players Duffle from 2015 and it is excellent.

It carries everything no need for an extra bag.

So thats -

2 x bats
Batting pads
2 x batting gloves
Protective gear
Helmet
Keeping pads
Keeping gloves
2 x shoes
Whites and warm up gear
Towel and wash bag
Plus various other accs eg. Tape

I am sure Kookaburra do an updated model for 2017.

The Kookaburra Pro D1 is choice of bag for the 2017 season, honestly its an amazing bag suits my needs perfectly. The new materials are very strong and sturdy plus the side pockets for the pads work brilliantly opening up for more flexibility to the main compartment. Theres definitely no need for a second bag along side it I choose to use the Kookaburra Kahuna colour way holdall along side it but thats mainly because I like to carry a couple of pairs of spikes during the season. Would highly recommend the Pro D1.

I have this and carry pretty much the same as listed above (part time keeper).

I keep looking at new duffles (don't really need one but hey) but nothing seems as big.
