Recently bought a Kookaburra Kahuna online (i live in nz) and i am really happy with the pickup and sweet spot. However all down one side of it the willow is discoloured, is this unusual and will it affect the perfomance/lifespan of the bat?
Apologies for delay, here are some more pictures:

Here is the bat after oiling, it seems to have brought it out even more:

Discoloration is not a big deal. Can you post some pictures of your Kahuna bat?

sounds like heartwood
some people like it some dont, its harder than sap wood (the white bit) and is normally on the outside edge and can help to prevent edge cracks as its harder or so i am led ot believe, im sure people who know much more will be able to correct me if i am wrong here

It' sounds like a strip of heartwood it's harder and as little or no sap therefore it can be brittle shouldn't affect the bats performance
