Not sure if anyone has ever posted this same subject before-I don't think so..but looking to get really kitted out as the Season is getting closer !!
:)
Does anyone wear knee pads underneath their whites every year I take the skin off my knees fielding.
If so any makes could be recommended to buy at all.
Would like to retain what skin I've got for the 2017 season....nothing to do with the fact I've bought a lovely pair of cricket whites from Lords !!

Hi Carlo, I've worn knee braces for decades, as I've got pretty flaky knees, and the have the side benefit of preventing me ripping my knees to shreds when I
dive topple. I've found some much better than others but my current ones are these...

Very reasonably priced, quite thick and supportive, and have lasted very well.

Exactly the type of thing I meant. These are going in the shopping basket
Many thanks

I have some they are extremely light and excellent quality you don't know your wearing them but here's the best bit 4.99 from Lidi in stock this week.

I like the mc David knee pads , gives just the right support but with padding as well.
-
Yes some of the pads are for mma or boxing looks like they would give excellent protection I would guess some of the forum already using this style of knee protector
-
Don't you have your old Kung Fu pads?
-
I bought 2 sets . One were McDavids , the other fleabay McDavid knockoffs . They are both really good , essentially the same . But the knockoffs cost me $4au ! ... nice.

You make me laugh Bruce you really do :)

No !! Don't tell me you have never tried to stop on in the outfield, saved a boundary and then looked down to see blood on your knees!!
(Padded knee pads might also act as a support for the crocks thou, of which I am one)
:)
-
Sorry , hehehehe. .... my 'crockness' made me totally forget about the legit reason of saving knee skin . I wear them becauwe my knees can't take the hits ( until i get my knee ops anyway ) and using the pads is the only way i can dive and then get back up ! :)

Sorting my cricket bags out yesterday and found the G N elbow protectors brought last year if one of the manufactures were to do the same product for knees they would be ideal
The knee protectors could also be stitched into the inside of cricket trousers
-
Captains likely to be expecting plenty of questions about who's opening the batting and bowling this season if the full team turn up with knee pads on in the first changing room of the season ;) :o

I think @ppccopener - as a self-confessed 'kit-tramp', you should post your full gear in the 'Your Kit' thread, for all the nerds to see!!

The mcdavid and its knockoffs are essentially the same as g.n elbow protectors .....funnily enough, i bought mcdavids in size medium . They fit , but are tight ( i did use their sizing chart ). When i bought my first knockoff pair i looked at their sizing chart and went for xl ( asian xl that is) . They fit much better . I bought a second pair in xl , then thought 'what will i do with the mcdavids (since i only want two pairs , one for training and one for matches) . I put the mcdavids size medium on my elbows ....and they fit . So now i have elbow pads if i ever want them .
Fyi, mcdavid do advertise their pads as being for both elbows and knees .
Oh , also make sure to get the 'hex pad / honeycomb ' style as they have real bendy padding akin to g.n elbow protectors . Don't get their 'traditional ' style padding .

top stuff Biggie :)

@Seniorplayer do you rate the GN elbow protectors?
I've been using some elastic bandagey things I got off eBay which do the job.
Is there any real benefit to the GNs over these?

I know the bandagey things you mean .... i used one for my tennis elbow . The bandage ones , and for that matter compression sleeves , work as well as elbow protectors for saving skin /abrasions , but don't help re knocks and bumps etc . The knee equivalent ie bandagey knee brace or compression tights , do a reasonable job , but i have still got some bad abrasions with them . With knee pads though you wont get any abrasions at all .

Yes Cam they give excellent ground impact protection not to tight not to loose no weight a little baggy around the wrists but they don't slid down your arms Or sweat you prodoct is Lycra easy to put on and take off and at around 15.00 to protect your elbows good value.
Saw a guy wear them as arm guards batting against the quicks last season wouldn't recommend using them for that though.
