Here is a little video of my first practice since last summer. Felt good to have a hit.
Well ok to block the ball a lot and leave a load!

Whoever was feeding the machine seemed in a bit of a rush !... must have had a pressing commitment to get to .
Not bad for such a long layoff .
I'm interested in this facility / setup...seems super cool , machine and net in a garage or whatnot. Even a mattress for an absorbing keeper . Nice . And all those spooky looking bat pad fielders on the on side !
What machine was it ?
Btw , what camera do you use and why is it positioned there!? Do you prefer this to positioning it at the non strikers stumps area ? .... just curious as im purchasing my first action camera / gopro knockoff this week .

Look at those cover drive. You look like a very strong front foot player.
-
My lower back always kills me after the first session in front of the machine. You looked good for first hit. Low lighting in that room or just the camera that you failed to hit?
-
The net is at my friend's barn. It is usually used as a party venue and there have been a number of huge bashes there recently, one for a 30th and another as a send off to Texas...
The lights were better than usual last night but we need some new bulbs fitted.
The camera/my huawei phone was sitting on a chair at silly mid off which is why I cut the head off a little. Something to work on for next time!
Oh and the barn is about 18yards...
-
Looking solid considering it's your first hit since August. I don't think I look that good after netting for 6 weeks!
-
I KNOW I don't look that good full stop!ha
-
With all of us uploading our net footage, you've just shown us how to do it pretty much perfectly!

Thanks, not quite perfectly, I remain very crouched in my stance (clearly a new long blade bat is the solution) and I need to play the ball later with softer hands... but given it has been so long since I played I am happy.
Next time I will get my ferocious super impatient ball feeder ( @FattusCattus you know who you are) to bang it in short. I have had some soft dismissals from wafting at short balls so need to work at that... roll on next week!
-
Don't blame me - you need to bloomin' well get on with things!
Anyway - it's the only way to stop you talking between deliveries! :)
-
@Buzz - Clearly I'm the better looking at the crease as you look all hunched up, and people are telling me I'm slim and exciting. It's not all about dreamy cover-drives you know - it's the whole package!!
-
Going back to the barn today. The big question is should I trust my 7yo to feed the machine...
-
A barn that doubles as a cricket net and a party venue? Sounds perfect!
-
Well it didn't quite go to plan. My son made me look very ordinary... he also doesn't stop with the gassing!
Back foot first, including a few shooters...

Front foot including a big nick off first ball 😢😠

Looked like he was trying to kill you!
-
Felt like it too!
-
Pretty good for first net out was that full 22 yards and at what speed it looked like it was a yard to quick for first net out
-
It's about 17 yards Gary - which makes batting there a little 'spicy'!
-
Okay that makes sense now far too spicy for me
-
And don't forget the Helmet requiring "Ridge" off a length @FattusCattus .....
-
The ridge is now so pronounced @tim2000s , that my helmet needs a helmet!
-
So after no practice in ages, here is my third net session in 8 days!

Sorry for the faffing around at the start.
It was a slow bowling work out with some drifters and dibbly dobbly efforts.
Fun though

And a back and across trigger ;)

And a back and across trigger ;)
Not back. But against a spinner I like to get across outside the line of off stump for a number of reasons
It upsets the bowlers line
It protects me from LBW and bowled (edit: in theory)
It allows me to hit the bowling straight without reaching or the ball, which is my strength

Snigger ;)

I move my stance to Middle & Off against the off spinner for this exact reason.

3:46 of first video - that is my speciality shot!! Inside edge for 4! They simply can't defend against that shot ;)
-
The sets against the off-spinning mode were better to work out - the first mode that @Buzz had set up was some weird in-swinging / off-spin hybrid that was too much for my limited brain and talent. Once again old Charlie Big-bollox here made it look much easier - but it is a great variation to try on these Bola machines, and I think we both enjoyed the variety.

Straight drive past the keeper works every time Pete
